A tad premature, but in anticipation of the drifter (18 months in #235) rolling forward with the build. Picked up the truck Wednesday…Front bumper, winch, lights (fog and bar), skids, sliders, and rear bumper. No camper, but better than sitting on my hands. Next up a rear seat delete!

First rolled drifter/nomad that I know of. I know one had been laid on it's beside before but I feel the pain on this one :( glad everyone was ok

That drifter doesn’t look like it survived like the one that went on it’s side. Bummer

My buddy picked up a rolled drifter and fixed it. I’ll see if I can find the original photo from the guy that rolled it. Zhellman I think his handle is.

just a testament to how bullet proof these things are!

Added a Goose Gear rear seat delete. Happy with the install, but will be adding some sound deadening later. Cab noise is noticeably louder.

Does anyone have photos of the vertical electrical panels at the corners removed? I want to see the difference from the earlier Drifters (like what I have) where it seems that it is larger/deeper.

I could be wrong, but I believe the depth of the panels depends on the components installed.

I just have the dimming light switches in mine, and it was made earlier this year. I believe if you add USB or other power options, they add the depth (to the panel cover) to accommodate.

    Mine are flush:

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the changes...With your side windows, it looks like you need something like 1" thickness for the window frames to sandwich and the aluminum Drifter wall is only 1/8". So there's probably some type of filler/insulation behind the ePanel, where my solid sided Drifter has the ePanel curved in. I haven't peeked behind it since I first got it and don't remember what is behind it. I guess I have some investigation to do in the 20 degree weather :)

@cwhet10 - If the Hest mattress is so good, why do you still have egg-crate style foam underneath the mattress?

    whyEggCrate.jpg

Edit: I still just ordered one, so I'll be the judge if it's subjectively comfortable for me.

D'oh! It's because of the insulation. I'll shut up now.

There are probably a few different panel options for insulated walls, bare walls, and extra depth for certain electronics. I will have my panels off later this week and can snag some pics, but it sounds like you'd be better having pics of a non-insulated Drifter.

20 degree weather? I wish. It's 9 outside right now here...

I've got an "insulated" drifter with solid sides. Please do snap photos of what's behind your panels as well as some measurements if you can.

If you are looking for quiet, I would not go with any of the butyl rubber options. They are great for eliminating speaker buzz and vibration but there are way better options for noise reduction/absorption. My personal favorite is Automotive Thinsulate https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b40068152/

You can find it on Ebay for cheap. Use 3M 77 spray adhesive to apply to alcohol wiped surfaces. I did the inside of my doors, under the dash and in the rear of the cab and it made a huge difference. Won't hold water and is self-extinguishing. Also swear my A/C in AZ works much better!!!

Well, I went digging around tonight in the freezing temps to replace a busted blind rivet on the rear window frame near the t-handle latch…

EDIT: looks like R Value 2.89 foam from R-Tech.
    https://www.homedepot.com/p/R-Tech-3-4-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-R-2-89-Foam-Insulating-Sheathing-310873/202530470

It looks like I have some type of closed cell styrofoam type insulation with a foil-like layer. Not sure what product it is exactly, but FYI - those solid sided drifters with the lower insulation package, it’s more than the thin ePanel.

Appreciate the recommendation! I like the idea and looks to be easier than what I have seen on a couple videos using dynamat and some others. Not an audiophile, but would like to knock the road noise down enough to enjoy the ride.

    Thank you! Much love!

    Dually Long Hest mattress FTW!

In my humble opinion, the hest mattress is a much better upgrade than the campers stock mattress. Their one downside I've found is the crease in the center for folding the mattress in half length-wise (car camping). Conveniently for me, I somehow find that middle crease every night (#singlelifeproblems) and would wake up with a hip bone through it and on the hard platform. So I added a 1" memory foam under it to avoid sore bones. (Notice that foam isn't as wide as the whole mattress Sir @JasonLee ) o_O

Plus.. you know.. it's extra plush since it's essentially my 24/7 home. I'd put a purple mattress up there if I could.

But those sleeping with partners next to them shouldn't come across the crease issue.

Thanks for the info. I did notice that it wasn’t the full width so I assumed you were sleeping in the middle. Many people have asked about the crease, so now we have a firsthand account answering the question.

Hopefully they ship mine out soon so I can use it and compare to the Exped MegaMat I’ve been using for 2 years.
