Well everyone i got the news that Yosemite campgrounds are closed throughout the end of 2021. My reservation starts tomorrow. Thinking of san bernardinos lytle creek yellow post campsites instead. But i only have recovery boards and dont want to get myself in a shitty situation.
The entire plan was mild snow camping.

can anyone recommend anything within 200-300 miles of los angeles area. Hopefully disbursed camping cause reservations will probably be filled up.

yellow post sites near big bear are always cool. fun hiking around the campsites & cliff jumping in the summer on China Island southwest lake

Should I have any issue hitting them up as far as snow/ wheeling? I have chains and traction boards. No winch and its just my vehicle.

also has a road closure alert . I dont want to drive the 100 miles for it to be closed :( any idea?

bought full snow gear, chains, ice scraper, buddy heater, -20 F wiper fluid and the list goes on... was expecting the snowfall and camping in Yosemite before they shut down the campgrounds. Definitely prepared for it

No clue about conditions, just a direction to look into. I haven't been there in years, lived in LA a decade ago.

Another desert place to look into is Mojave Nat'l Preserve near ZZYZX road.

Get a carbon monoxide detector for that buddy heater, you’re breathing what it burns and should have a backup.

Outside is smarter - in a closed tent is pretty risky.

I use a 12v diesel heater - forced clean air for the tent - it doesnt mix exhaust and heated air. Check out “portable 12v diesel heater” on Amazon.

Winter camping isn’t for sissies, good for you!

William Heise County Park just outside of Julian is very nice. Cold but probably not much snow. You could always head up to Sunrise Hwy. in the Laguna Mtns. if you want to see snow. Or what the heck, change your plans entirely and head for the Borrego Springs.
Any day of camping is better than mowing the lawn or picking up dog poop! Good Luck!
