I believe so most of what I’ve read has to do with the VVT side of things for popping the code. I haven’t dug deep into the research cave on it yet but skimmed through a little. I’m not a mechanic, just a DIY guy that’s likes to tinker on shit I that I have no business tinkering on. Just part of the Tacoma hobby. It’s not all about bolting on pre made stuff to me I want to learn what makes it tick and help my friends when they run into the same problems.

I don’t like it when people don’t follow up. So here’s my tensioner and the parts # for the gasket. Is the a measurement I’m looking for? Looks like I’m kinda halfway between. 0AAB8271-98A2-473B-9F98-990FCEE4B660.jpg

I made some logs with the MPVI2 that @TheOnlyPajooned lent me. Would anyone want to take a look at them? Not sure what I’m looking for.
And happy to make a stand alone thread for this to not clog up Kel’s thread. Any suggestion for a part of tw to post this to?

If you don't have before gear logs- there won't be anything to really view in terms of how much these helped. What you should notice is in the timing- there should be room advance it in some parts without issue due to the increased knock threshold. The hptuners thread would be able to explain it in better detail than I could.

I wanted to post a follow up. I think the problem was low quality gas. I got a tank of premium from a different station than my usual. Saw great improvement in mpg on that tank. Similar driving- mostly my commute. I’ll probably stick to this gas station.

Just flashed a tune on Sunday so I’ll see what that does as well. It’s a noticeable improvement in drivability right away.

So I've turned the last few guys asking for these towards my competitor U R D.
They are finally selling these at a fair price (currently listed at $115.) So I'll let him have the business so long as his prices remain fair.
I'm still active on this forum and willing to help anyone with questions on these as needed.

Bonus: add coupon code forummember for an additional discount on his products.

@gpdx I'm gonna be buying the URD cam gears here soon - I'm wondering from your experience with tuning if I should record some logs before the install, and then run some logs post-install

I'm hoping the offer still stands to help me wrench those gear bolts loose

I might have you look at the leafs too and lmk if I should swap over to the newer set, if you're cool with that:cheers:

EDIT: And on that note.... Don't tell my wife :spending:

More logs is more fun. I'd be curious to see before/after, assuming you already got a tune on there? I'm got some big a$$ wrenches if you need em also.

More logging of before/after knock valves is always a plus. I think the only current set on this thread is the ones I posted on page 2

yeah, I'll run some logs - it's base tune, stock rear and stock motor.... just have leaf blocks and drop bracket, and big shoes!

I'd like to re-gear the rear eventually, with the cam gears, because we plan to eventually drag a small cargo trailer (eventually)

I'm thinking of some other 100k maintenance items I could tackle and get done at the same time, I am 90% sure I'm gonna buy the hood struts before the cam gear work, just to keep things open and easy to work on

I agree with doing some logs. Nice to have a comparison, and it’s easy since you have the MPVI2.
And highly recommend the tune I got from @Boltripper.
