Wait, so you’re going to be $35,000 “in” on a salvage title truck that will hopefully all work out ok? That’s a BIG gamble.

Yeah. I was onboard with this plan until I saw 35K.

If you're not looking to resell it and just drive the piss out of it for 35k, that might not be that bad. I'm assuming that's Payout - (buyback + parts + work).

It's mechanically a brand new truck and can have a reinstated title. Probably saving about 15k on the truck

Still the insurance co walked away from repairing the truck and they have a tad more experience with these things than the OP. OTOH the price of used autos is thru the roof these days and getting the truck repaired and back on the road will be quicker than waiting 6-12 months for a new truck to be built

Consider jd fab LCA mount kit? Would correct the LCA mounting points back to correct area and be stronger. Just my ¢.02

I'm just saying what could be. There has been no expert opinions from any frame shop that's taken a look. Basically...best case scenario the OP has a good truck for 35k that's probably never worth selling.

I will still take my chances on a complete frame swap any day. Remember Toyota dealers are very good at this. LOL

The right way is a new frame from the factory.

Best of luck to you OP. Everyone (except @GrundleJuice ) seems to be glossing over the fact that that front diff mount in your one picture is absolutely F&*KED. Imagine the forces needed to bend a chunk of cast iron like that. All that energy went elsewhere in the truck. As demonstrated by all the airbags going off.. The crossmember is the least of your worries. At a minimum Id be looking very closely at all of the front driveline components, including the T-case.

That being said, never been an easier time to do a frame swap than on a brand new truck haha

Exactly why the insurance company totaled the truck. They assumed that the repairs could keep adding up and adding up.

Its not as bad as you think. This is all inclusive with the current 10k frame (5k for frame and about 5k labor to swap by a frame shop locally) if I do not need a frame swap, then about 25k for a 2021 limited, which original msrp was 45k + tax which is 10% in WA state.

Called the toyota dealer today to find the OEM part number I need, looks like that cross member is not sold separately. I can only buy the complete frame, which is on back order. Will need to look into junk yards and see if I can source a used piece.

Like had been said, the frame steel is not conducive to cut and weld. It's certainly doable, but what is compromised between heat treatment, joint stiffness, etc? Will you cut/grind and then weld over the original weld location?

OP, you have not told us what your truck wheelbase is. Double cab, long bed I am assuming. I know of a dealer in Northern CA with one sitting in his parking lot. Part number 51001-04748. It has been there for some time as the bright black paint is taking on a dull tinge.

Edit: Please enter in your personal info what truck you have so nobody has to guess.
