Have you looked on Gun Broker?

I've purchased several guns there - although it has been a couple of years.

This...Theoutdoorstrader.com is a pretty active classified section and you can get some pretty good deals. If you're looking for parts, reddit's GAFS or ar15.com EE. I've even bought complete lowers of ar15.com's EE and had them shipped to Tru Prep in Marietta b/c they do free FFL transfers for ODT members.

    What are you looking for?

Nothing in particular. Talking about that 1911 reminded me about how I’ve kicked around the idea of trading it, so I used to see who was looking for trades. Ever since it got factory replaced it’s been fine, just the whole experience left a poor taste in my mouth.

The trader will definitely be your best bet in trading or selling it.

I am by no means a retirement guru or a financial planner/advisor so take this info for what it is, just opinion. You're savings account probably yields very little in returns. The standard savings account has an interest rate of .1 right now. At the very least for no risk alternatives, park your money at an online high yield savings acct like. Ex: american express offers one. They are at least offering .5% interest rates. You can also find short term CD's in the 18 month range for .70% that you can park money until rates rise again. The Fed plans to raise rates 3 times in 2022 so that means everything else will rise too. These are the most common zero risk areas. If you are okay with some risk for higher yields, the s&p 500 index has traditionally always been a fairly safe place to invest. If you are looking to plan for retirement, something like a Vanguard target retirement 2050 fund is a pretty good option also for more diversification. These are just some of the more traditional and lower risk options in use. Of course there are more things out there and now you have crypto and nft's etc that are avenues of investment if you are a little more bold. Best of luck and remember this is just to be informative and not really a suggestions. Except for the first suggest to at the very minimum to move the cash from a standard savings to a high yield savings. That's zero risk and a 5x better return. Please do that if you haven't already.

Background info: I'm AVP of finance at a credit union (9 years in this position), Undergrad in Finance, MBA with a focus in Finance. But degrees and credentials don't mean much sometimes b/c there are plenty of people out there with no formal education that can run circles around anyone in the investment/financial world.

My $0.02 (which probably pales in comparison to Alan’s), look into a Roth IRA fund. Assuming that you’ve already got the 401k situation figured out (if your work offers one), the tax advantages of a Roth IRA are pretty good.

This also. My suggestions were the basics and low risk options for excess cash after you have: set aside a rainy day fund and already contributed to your 401k, 403b, etc (whatever retirement option your employer offers). Past that, roth ira that you can max out your contributions to yearly. Then use my suggestions at the very least to park the extra cash. (the rainy day fund would most likely be held at the high yield savings account. Account for it taking 24 hours to transfer into a checking account to use as liquid cash but in an emergency, that's what credit cards are for. Then pay off the balance of what ever emergency with the rainy day funds.

I'm a certified financial planner if you want to pm me. I'm not taking on clients since my current job is in another corner of the investment management world but I am happy to answer questions and get you pointed in the right direction.

Edit: @MAG GRY TACO15 posted some generally good info. I'll add that schwab offers both high yield savings accounts and high yield checking accounts. I personally use the high yield checking because they reimburse atm fees. An added bonus is they make it easy to have all of your investments, savings, and checking in one place

    * full disclosure I don't work for or have any connection to schwab
