I got my license plate yesterday and went to Advance Auto Parts for a frame as I did not care for the plastic dealer frame holding my temp tag.

I purchased a really nice frame that had United States Air Force on it that complemented my veteran tag quite well.

Well, it would not fit as it hit the bumper at the bottom. Seems they made this area almost the exact same size as the plate. They did put a little groove/trench for the bottom edge of the plate to go into if necessary but it is not wide enough for the plate covers I have found.

Did anyone else run in to this situation?

If so, how did you fix it?

I very much dislike front plates. Given all the odd shapes these days, we should be issued stickers, like you see in the last pic.

This is what I did. Redrilled the plate to match the existing holes and plopped a couple screws in the bottom. Use stainless steel.

    Even dirt was added. Haha!

I should have specified Rear Plate as we do not have to have a front plate in KY.

The truck came with a front plate bracket that was not installed to put a plate on the front if I ever move to a place that requires one. I doubt I'll ever install it.

    Ah! Sorry.

Lucky you. I'm originally from PA and never realized how nice it was with just a rear plate until I got here.

For the rear, you gotta find a thinner frame. The plate typically needs to sit inside the frame for it to fit the slot.

Of course, you could lightly dremel the slot or the frame if it is close to fitting.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I have the same problem. Haven't solved it yet, but my plan is to use my Dremel to deepen the slot in the bumper cover.
