    I liked your idea. So, I went to the dollar store, got the tape measures.

    I noticed that there are screws holding the clips to the tape measure and I wanted to see if there was room inside the scangauge to screw the clips on.

    There is. There is about 1/2 inch of open space inside the scangauge. The circuit board is near the front panel where the screen and buttons are. The back 1/2 of the case is just to add depth for the black connector plug in the center.

    I just drilled 2 1/8" holes and screwed those screws in.

    YEP I screwed it as well. Only I used a single screw so it swivels...LOL

    I did the mod and mounted it upper left of cab using a single clip I used a small metal screw and screwed the clip to the Scangage. I found a clip on a belt spring loaded key ring and unscrewed it and found the screw was the perfect size to do the job with a single clip.

    I took four screws out of the Scangauge and removed the back cover. Found plenty of clearance to drill a pilot hole next to the jack and screw the clip on with the small metal screw. The gauge looks flush mounted to the headliner on he upper left corner of the windshield. Can't see the clip.

    Removed the A pillar and ran the end to the connector..PROFIT!!

    tried tape and did not like the white. Black tape didn't hold so what the hell I put a screw in the Scangauge and for safety put some double sided tape over the inside where it sticks out plenty far from any circuitry,

    Lovin the Scanguage data. Buying an extra data cable to check the wife's RAV if it should throw a code.

    about taking out the a-pillar: I remember on my hyundai, taking out plastic trims was the same as scrapping them as they would often break a bracket when taken off. Is there any precautions to take for removing the a-pillar in a tacoma?

    If I can do it anyone can...just pop out the caps unscrew the two bolts holding the "oh shit" handle and it practically falls out.

    I think you should reconsider putting it in the upper left of the windshield. Running the cable down the A pillar is easy and it fits fine there. I have my hardwired GPS to the left of the mirror. The Scanguage II works well on the left upper corner.
