Everyone has different wants and desires. In my case, I didn't even entertain the option to get the automatic. My daily has to have a choose-your-own-adventure stick. It's the only thing that keeps my mind away from thinking about suck-starting a 9mm in bumper to bumper Boston traffic 5 days a week. Also, it's a surprisingly good transmission, IMO. It actually shifts smoother than my wife's Impreza and her parent's Outback. It's not nearly as smooth as my Mazda3 (RIP), but it's a lot better than I was expecting in a truck.

There are some aftermarket kits, but none of them are very clean. Not even close to OEM clean. I wish you could just buy the parts and install them like a more complex version of the tailgate electric lock kit I haven't bought (yet, apparently).

Oh totally agreed on the MTX in the Taco's. My DD tC shifts amazing (with some upgrades), but the Taco I got mostly to use on inter-state mtb adventures and I tend to injure myself when biking. Not having to worry about shifting if I fk up my legs while far from home is a relief. Plus the bit of increased MPG gained with the ATX with the 33's is beneficial - will be even nicer after the OVTune (amazing on my tC).

If I got a full on crawling rig or the truck for really any other purchase, would definitely have gone MTX.

lol, I've been in that boat before. Pulled both quads one leg-day, and broke my tailbone skiing one time. One does not simply manipulate the clutch after either of those events.

I would have bought a MT if they had one. They told me if I ordered one it would be months before it arrived. I've never been known for my patience.

Battery shot again :( this will be my 3rd battery in a little over 3 years.

Got home from AZ last night at 3am, battery in the truck was frozen even with my solar panels. Had to wait on a tow truck for a jump start.

Batteries suckkkkk in AZ. Never had one last longer than 2.5 years in any car here. Will be doing a Northstar when the factory one goes.

Yeah, I think instead of having toyota put another pile of trash in my truck I am going to get a nice battery.

I would have bought a MT if it wasn't and extra $10K CDN to get a Pro and have a bunch of crap I have no need for.

How about Toyota sell a MT SR5 with an e-locker.

Then nobody would have bought a pro or an offroad lol.

I, for one, only got my Offroad because of the locker. Had it been available on a lower trim I would have gotten that. I swapped out all the rest of the stuff already that makes it an 'offroad' and it's only been 4 months.

It's funny, I felt the same way at first. But the one time my Kreg jig broke it was the little metal set screw. Sheared off in the jig. They sent me a whole new one for my trouble. Now I can't trust metal or plastic.

Nice truck! I like the little lips that extend over the side of the bed - looks like a better design than the RSI caps I’ve seen.

Got 2.5 years on mine and still going strong. Must be the mild weather here. I did pick up a jump starter just in case.

It’s a “pila” or a water tank. Built in 77 and no longer in use. Dude that built it was about my size by the look of his foot print.
