There's always Kia, and what about Genesis branded vehicles?

No new models. Do they mean no new vehicles in general, or do they mean next generation models.

Most every thing Hyundai has in it's line up is in the first few years of that generation's life cycle. Same with Genesis I believe.

For some reason Toyota will probably limit the amout of HP and torque the EV Tacoma can put down.

Yeah, we ought to go back to vehicles that weighed a ton, had carbs, required heavy maintenance, and got crap mpg, amirite?

The announcement is for the Hyundai Group, which includes Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis. No new models with internal combustion engines, just EVs.

Other carmakers are likely doing the same thing. The 4th gen Tacoma will likely be the last gen with a gasoline engine.

If you have an MT Taco, you already have an EV mode - just pull the EFI fuse, hit the CLUTCH START CANCEL button, put her in gear, and crank the starter...

Can't belive the will not have a gas version of a Kia available for sometime to come. Not everyone has the ability to charge at home, and who is or will leave their vehicle over night at a charging station. When their is a chance it won't be there in the morning.

The emphasis seems to be on new models, as in new versions of existing models. I don't think manufacturers are going to abandon production of all existing gas models. New gassers will be around until those vehicles cease to meet highway crash test standards.

Yeah, infrastructure isn't there yet. Particularly for those who take a trip somewhere.

I also think the meaning is no new model lines, i.e. something other than sonata/elanta/etc. I'd expect current models to continue production and perhaps even receive non-engine upgrades over time.

Hyundai shut down their combustion engine development dept, which just means no new gas or diesel engine designs for them. Existing gassers will continue to be sold until South Korea bans new combustion engine vehicle sales 8 years from now (which is within one model generation for most carmakers, so they have to plan ahead).

Okay, that's what I was thinking.

I still think there will be a lot of people 8 years from now who will not have a convenient solution for charging an EV.

Maybe they will stop buying new vehicles, or driving, or purchase used vehicles.

EVs are here to stay, I think the future will bring more resistance towards EVs. More so out of necessity and the availability of not having to plug in, not because people are for ice or EVs

Not sure if it was going to buff out before, sure won't now.
