None so far with my 19, but only has 13xxx miles on it. All cars have strengths and weaknesses, and some end up better or worse because of sub assembly issues or just how someone on the assembly line was feeling that day. Any car you might consider will have the same set of opinions, some positive, some negative. I usually look at what the trend is toward and if there are any clear problems in an area I don’t want to deal with.
My last truck had some issues I would have to deal with, my wife’s Jeep has had issues. I resolved all of them myself. Vehicles aren’t absolutes of good or bad qualities, they are a sliding scale of strengths, weaknesses, and value to you.
Also consider that sometimes a guy will put a 6 in lift, E load 35s and a camper on a mid size and then complain about mileage and power. Another person may buy a 3/4 ton Megacab with a diesel and complain about the cost of DEF and that it’s a pain to drive and park in the city, won’t fit in the garage, and is too big for the trail.
Just try to keep it all in perspective. I’ve really enjoyed my 19. Others seem to complain endlessly about their truck.

Only if you ordered the factory spray in bed liner. What does Ford do spray the liner, and then drill drain holes right where the fuel tank is?

Ford's most recent recall on tne F150 was for drive shaft sound insulation that can become loose.

There was never a need to add sound insulation over the drive shaft.

It really is. It's like going to the doctor's office and realizing that everyone in the waiting room is sick. We'll, that's because that's where sick people go.

Same with an automotive forum. If you are not an enthusiasts then you're here to have a problem resolved. A couple of posts about an engine letting go or a suspension clunk and boom...."must be a problem with all Tacomas".

Just remember, nobody hops on the internet to tell everyone how their truck started up every day and got em to work without an issue. If they do, it's often after the truck is long gone.

2018 manual, *knock on wood* nothing worth expending the energy to write about it here, then again nothing weird enough to try and troubleshoot. Almost 70,000 miles of mixed driving including taking it off-road a bunch.

I did have the differential whine pop up at like 20,000 miles, but I changed the fluid and it went away and hasn't come back.

Here's a couple tips. Anything more than a 3-inch lift really messes with driveline angles and requires a ton of cutting. Large, heavy tires make for a bad time. Disconnect the battery before messing with anything electrical.

Remember, it's a forum. Any model-specific forum will be full of people with issues, trying to troubleshoot, etc. The majority of Tacoma owners aren't on here. Chances are, you'll buy one and enjoy it. And if you don't enjoy it and want to get rid of it, Tacomas totally break that one rule about vehicle depreciation, especially lately.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
That's the problem with forums like this. You hear most all of the bad and very little of the good. I had a similar concern - ordered a truck in June 2020, had to fight to get it configured my way, started hanging out on TW, and was rather nervous come the beginning of December 2020 when it arrived. All has been good and no glitches have yet to surface.
You might also keep in mind who is bitching. Most are folks who had to mod the hell out of their new truck rather than leave it stock. Some failed to heed the warnings expressed on TW when doing some of the mods, e.g. disconnect the battery when doing ANY electrical mod. Others gotta lift and add monster tires and then bitch that an alignment does not immediately solve all issues or the strange noises develop.
My '21 TRD OR AC remains essentially stock except for the addition of a Leer cap. Have some cosmetic mods in the works, but nothing structural. It meets my towing needs and the fuel mileage has improved slightly as the truck and I get used to each other. I have no regrets and no concerns.

I got 99 problems… but my truck ain’t one. At least not right now. I have a 2021 TRDOF DC. Haven’t had any issues or complaints other than the head unit and sound not to my standards but I didn’t get the sound package or whatever. Eventually I’ll upgrade.

2019 DCLB Offroad - no issues. Had the fuel pump replaced during the recall but the old one had not failed. Had the TSB done for the hunting gear issue and it is better but not great. I still engage ETC most of the time. Going in for the 3rd brakelight leak fix/recall(ish) thing but mine has not leaked as far as I can tell.

The only thing that would keep me from buying a Toyota truck. Would be Toyota raising their MSRP, and the dealer adding taking on an additional fee. Which they can do if they want to.

If I had to have a new Toyota truck. I'd have to accept the price of a new Toyota.

biggest issue i have had was the leaky 3rd brakelight.
    thats fixed.
the hunting transmission was an inconvenience, but I got the KDmax tune, and that's amazing.
my dash rattles a little. no biggie.

Change the oil and the other maintenance and you'll be fine.
