I'm still not sure what to think about new Craftsman. I've seen good reviews of some stuff, and they're opening a US manufacturing facility (https://toolguyd.com/craftsman-tools-usa-factory-news-update-072021/), but they're going so hard at the budget/enthusiast market that I fear it will be hard to keep track of what's good and what's light duty or disposable.

It also seems, as you alluded to, that Lowes is replacing lots of Kobalt stuff with Craftsman. I've never used Kobalt sockets or wrenches (and to be honest, I mostly dismissed them as "store brand"), but that sort of change is exactly the problem I seem with today's Craftsman. Even if the tools are fine, it's unclear whether the brand is stable yet. I think Sears still has some rights to use the Craftsman name as well, but whatever they're making is totally independent (in terms of design, quality, warranty policy, etc) from SBD Craftsman.

I bought a $100 Craftsman starter set from Lowes last year and have no specific complaints with it (apart from the unnecessarily large blow-molded case), but I think I'd look to a less volatile brand if shopping again.

She doesn't like shows and stuff that call attention to how awful the world is, since we live basically live in it anyway. But me, I find that shit funny

We should find out where the Milwaukee Tools Anonymous meetings are held at, and shake the bushes outside to see what's hidden in them

 

Unfortunately those meetings are held in the back of a Snap On truck.

I was at my wife's aunt and uncle's house for christmas and he was telling me a story of their corporate pilot was in a Cessna with a dude on charter flight.
