Stying is easy to change with a refresh whenever they want. The underlying changes to the frame, suspension, drive train, cabin comfort and design, efficiency, capability, are what's important and what everyone on these forums ignore. It's all about the looks.

People said that about the second gens when the third gens came out, claiming the days of realible tacomas was over, and boy were they wrong. Toyota took their sweet time to implement turbo systems and have already proven to manufacture reliable turbo engines. They wouldn’t have put the TTv6 in the new LC 300 series if they couldn’t figure out how to make it a reliable platform. Same with the hybrid systems, Toyota has had plenty of time. Step into the 21st century.

What is different about the tundra emissions compared to your 2017 Tacoma?

Don't love it, don't hate it. Might be one of those things you have to see in person to make a decision. But there's way too many TRDPro logos. Every body panel doesn't have to say TRDPro. I like the tailgate stamp but just Tundra would be cooler.

I don't think many actually ignore these things.

But those things aren't worth much if the exterior doesn't look good to me. It's not all about looks but to many (most) they are pretty important.

Clearly I'm an outlier. And that's OK.

I just wanna know if it can drag my 5th wheel RV as well as my present 5.7 Tundra.

Kinda annoyed that you have to buy the top end versions for the hybrid engine.

Beauty is in the eyes of the be holder I guess but to me it is a very good looking truck. I am concerned about the longevity of this truck

I love the new Tundra and am seriously considering trading in the taco for it.

I like the looks minus the back. Those tail lights look like they came off a 2001 Escalade, and the tail gate / bumper design is very 80’s to me. But maybe that’s what’s in style. CyberTruck!!

I like everything else they’ve done.

I like the styling but like all of these full size trucks it can't hang on rocks like a modestly lifted Jeep Wrangler or gladiator or a modestly lifted tacoma. Will do great "Offroad" on trails :D but not large (2-4 foot) bouldered rocky terrain. It will turtle in a heart beat like all of the full size trucks out there. I like the styling.... only b/c I predict the 2023 tacoma will have very similar exterior styling :D

    Updates to come...
It's a "bigger taco" cause they're both on the same frame and build now - so not surprising. Comparing it to a Gladiator doesn't make sense as even a Gladiator isn't comparable to a Raptor. You comparing 1/2 ton trucks to a midsize pickup. Of course the midsize will OR better - it's lighter, generally a shorter track, and not nearly as wide. Hence the comparison was not a "Tundra vs Gladiator" but a 1/2 ton (Tundra) against another 1/2 (F150).

As for the looks - it's grown on me - it's better in person IMO. I think it looks better than a Titan for sure, and hey, at least they didn't do the predator face like Lexus.

A facelift in 3-5 years means nothing to somebody looking to buy this year.

Curious how they are on the same frame now?

Tacoma has been on the exact same frame for 16 years. Weak and flexy, prone to rust, leaf sprung, open C channel.
The new tundra is a fully boxed frame with linked rear end. Remains to be seen about the rust issues.

Don't know how they could be more different honestly. I think the next generation Tacoma will follow suit and go linked rear and boxed frame.
