    Looking to stay around $700.00.

SIG Sauer P365 variation or Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0?

Or is there a sleeper that you'd recommend?

    Thanks.

Yes. Pretty much all of that. Carry, protection against animals, etc.

If discussing a purely carry gun, the P365X or XL is a solid choice. Glock 43/48 is a equivalent competitor product as well. It's all a Chevy vs Ford level debate. I'd just stay away from Springfield Armory due to their well-documented track record of poor QC.

If you wish for a CCWable midsize (which seems like what you are after), A P320 compact/M18 or something like a Glock G19 work for your needs.

Full size has many options depending on what you would use it for, and is also carryable without too much fuss unless you are a shorter person. I'm 6 foot and regularly carry an M17 (p320 full size) comfortably.

Modern 9mm loads are very competitive vs legacy calibers like .40 and .45 these days and get the benefit of larger mag capacity and lesser recoil. Unless you are truly worried about larger critters like bears and moose, 9mm fits the bill just fine.

This is pretty sweet and 4". A bit heavy in stainless, can't go wrong with metal though.

These kind of questions are impossible to answer. I love the simplicity of a Glock( 19, always the correct answer). My most carried gun is my s&w 342, easily my least tacticool. It fits nearly every occasion, except swimming/beach.

micro 9 vs compact? what is the weapons primary purpose... sport, HD, SD, CCW?
micro 9's sux if you have large hands... my S&W shield is used for a BUG or "gotta run to the corner store" gun.
micro's are great for deep concealment or BUG's and most offer the XL or extended mag variation now, but you should always have a primary sidearm. go to the range and rent a few, make a decision on performance, not reddit fanboi shit.

    I like my S&W SD9 9mm basically a exact copy of Glock 19

Everyday carry, concealed carry? Plinking? Full Size, compact? Or are you just basing a gun purchase on price alone? (nothing wrong with that) And if it is, just get what you strikes your fancy at your local gun shop. You'll be hard pressed to find a 9mm that will not go bang when you pull the trigger.

Everyday carry. I'd really like to stay below the $700.00 mark and have read some good stuff about Canik (either the TP9 or the METE) as well now.

Just picked up a Springfield Hellcat for the wife (though I like it so much I'll probably get one before another year goes by.) The 365 seems like a nice gun but I liked the feel of the Springfield a little more. I also really like the open sight colors they use as well. Sight and target acquisition is pretty quick for me. The forward sight is a well lit green or yellow and the rear is a white U. I am more accurate with the Hellcat than I am with my 4" Springfield XD 40 that I have owned for over a decade.

P365 is not bad, I would get the XL version...

Those are great choices. Make sure you get yourself a proper holster. Just be aware that those are bit heavy for EDC, but some get used to it.

Another vote for P365XL if primary intent is carry. If full-size is an option. HK VP9.

Make the mp2.0 a 45 shield and get both .
They’re both very good at what they do .
Avoid the 9 vs 45 endless debate .

Hammer fired I’d go with a CZ P-01 it’s been nato approved ive had 2 they’re imho best production compact 9mm sub 700.
Strikerfired can’t go wrong with Glock or S&W, the 43x and 48 are great all around setups with addition of a shield arms 15rd flush fit mag where as oem is 10.

Sig 365x or 43x would be my choice

Holsters and aftermarket parts readily available, plenty of capacity, comfortable, reliable
