Why is a Corolla’s key better than a Tacoma’s key?

    What broke? If you open the key there is only a tiny PCB inside. To break that you would need to jump on the fob or worse. The shell is a $5 replacement.

    You can rewire the panic button to a flame thrower for when you catch someone trying to steal your cat or tailgate.

    It’s just a key. As long as it opens and starts the truck, no biggy. The key is not meant to be hanged on the neck like a jewelry. The truck is what it matters.

    The transponder is a chip that is potted in place and inactivates the engine immobilizer. It is what the "H" of an H key refers to. The PCB is different.

    I don't think the push button starts have it though. So, can see where it can get confusing.

    Edit: and looking back at what you replied to I see I'm the one who is confused.
