i had one of those and the pin in it broke, and then i couldn't get it unscrewed from the antenna because it was on so tight with the spring. long story but either way, rendered my old antenna useless. i have one of those really flexible wilsons now

I'm typically anti-warranty as well, at least for my truck. I have to believe I"ll get the 7-8 years out of it before anything driveline blows up. On the Jeep I got Maxcare which is lifetime until the cost of the repair exceeds the value of the Jeep. This will be useful as the coolant in the Jeep seems to be disappearing and I can smell it. It's a $200 deductible but everything else is covered, so I call it a win. I just have to schedule an appointment to get it in there.

Remind me to stay out of Walpole, then. I have covers on my roof lights, but they're just the plastic lens protectors. I don't think any LEO will buy my "they're just there to look cool" story.

As far as CB antennas, I've had the worst luck with all of them. On my 2013 I had a NGP Firestik on a fold-down mount on my bed because I didn't want to be bothered with running grounding wires. On my 2016 I had the quick release with a ditch mount and a Fire Ring. I couldn't get a good ground with the Fire Ring nor a good SWR with the NGP unit. I have a Lil Wil magnet mount I've yet to run that I figure I'll run out the slider and drop on the roof if I need to run my CB. It's currently depowered.

I stumbled across this site today, nothing that screams bargain, but definitely cheaper than buying the same tools off the truck if there are any of you who do. Of course, if you're the type to buy off the truck, you've probably already got most of this stuff: https://www.tooltruckrebrands.com/

I have a BAMF mount and when I got bed stiffeners I cut it and had the mount welded to the stiffener. It doesn't budge, even with the 3' FireStik Firefly antenna and stiff spring on it!

I would run it on the stiffener, but I have a DB cover, so that spot is a no go.

I have a softopper and run the mount. Like I said its been cut and weld to the stiffener but the mount still goes through the gap of the tailgate. Let me see if I have a picture

I have the quick disconnect and it works great. Especially nice when I have to go into a parking garage. It also keeps my swr numbers the same.

Nice! Was so glad to get my truck dirty again this weekend going up to my girl’s cabin in Maine. The duratracs did great in all the snow.

Nice. Where in Maine? I was just up a few days ago. That whole "oh they have snow" thing was wild. Down here in the south we ain't got shit.

Yeah man! For the first time in my life i was happy to see snow. Sad we’re getting all this rain in Boston- should be snow. Never thought i’d be wishing for snow haha.
The cabin’s up in Naples by Sebago Lake

Very much wishing we had snow instead of rain, not that it matters all that much since the closest I get to wheeling these days is the mud on the jobsite :pout:
In other news I've got 250 bucks im Christmas money to spend; I'm looking at kangaroo leather upland boots from ll bean, some Milwaukee tools even though I missed the deal I wanted..., or something for the truck possibly fogs or aux lighting. Votes?

Boots are a necessity, you can borrow my tools. That leaves lights! Happy spending.

I'm biased tho, just ordered DD pro fogs and 3 sets of scene lights for the roof racks.
Seeing well can be very expensive.

Yeah im really torn between the boots and some DD combo ditch lights...the bracket/light deal from hotshot offroad went up in price too and I'm kicking myself for not going in earlier lmao

Nice. Love the sebago area. I'm fine without snow - I hate it and cold.

Boots. You can live without all the other shenanigans.

Unpopular opinion - main lighting (fogs low high etc) yeah use the real deal. Aux stuff like ditch light - get the Amazon special. Comes with everything. They aren't road legal and work very well anyway. Down the road if you see you use them a lot, get something nicer. I have ditch lights and rarely use them, so for me it's more worth it to instead spend on better low beams or something and let the ditch light chinesium specials ride.

If you ain't got a good pair of boots - get those first. Get something full grain you can resole and you'll be good for a long while.
