5100 Install Before & After Pics (Alignment Measurements)

Yesterday afternoon I finally had a chance to do the 5100 install up front on my 2008 TRD OR. I set them at 1.75" to level my truck out with its rear TSB four leaf pack.

Here are some before and after photos. It actually doesn't even look different in a couple of these awful quality iPhone pictures. I'll need to do a photo shoot with my big camera once I get it all cleaned up.







I also added a pair of SpiderTrax spacers to the fronts. A pair for the rear wheels will be here Tuesday.



And here is one when I brought it home right after purchasing it. Yak!! I only knew its true potential thanks to TW. It is much better now IMO.





I took it to the dealership for an alignment this morning and also have a few various other things taken care of. They ordered the HVAC blower motor to be done in a few weeks. It was on backorder -- no surprise there. They did the gas pedal recall. And they reflashed my transmission to make for a smoother downshift in gears at low speed.

To the alignment. I could instantly tell when I finished installing the shocks at the shop that my front end alignment was way out of whack. It was all sorts of twisted.

This is the first time I've seen a complete alignment readout. What is SAI and Included Angle? And is there anything of note on my numbers? I like seeing more green than red on the actuals. That I know is good.


I was curious what my measurements might be from fender flare to the center of the wheel now as well. I'm at 22" on both fronts and 22 1/4" on both rear measurements. No more Taco lean. Woot!! I did add the ToyTec 1/4" top plate spacer to alleviate the Taco lean I had.

Ha, great question! They're set at 1.75". I have the rear TSB so it matches up well I think.

Nice. Tacoma Monday thru Friday and weekend projects. Corvettes Saturday and Sunday weather permitting.

 

After having put a few more miles on the new setup today, I'm even more satisfied with this setup.

After I put on the Nitto Terra Grapplers I had some moderate tracking. I wouldn't have thought it'd be so bad but I guess the extra width did it.

The tracking is gone now. The alignment feels superb and the spacers make my truck feel more planted than it ever did before. The transmission reflash is probably the most pleasant take-away so far. The hard downshift during slow speed driving is now gone and the whole driving experience is markedly improved. I love this truck more now than I have since owning it.

 

What size are your tires? I'm looking at doing the same set up and had those Nittos a couple of years ago and liked them. Your truck looks great.
