I think (mostly b/c people more knowledgeable than me say) that the input shaft bearing went out on a trip in Death Valley a few weeks ago. Will know more/for certain once I dig into my original case, which I plan to rebuild.

Naturally, since I'm a wordy bastard, I'm writing it all up, including the entire story of the failure. Though I haven't had any symptoms since, I believe it started 4 years ago... when this happened.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Right on. I'll be watching. I think I may have a problem with my output bearing. It may just be the seal... It's a bit of a squeak. I was chasing it all over, be me and a good mechanic friend finally narrowed it down to the shell that is right at that bearing. (on the back with the 5 bolts) That the output shaft comes through (and the speedo sensor).

Seriously thinking about doing what you are doing... especially because I'd like to Eco box or do some sort of other doubler anyway.

How much did you pay for the replacement tcase by the way? I have one located, but dude wants 300 bucks. I think that's a bit much. Wondering if that's just cuz I'ma cheap bastard lol.

That guy who was obsessed with rusty tow hooks still on here? He’s gonna shit a kitten when he sees this.

These are for 2nd and 3rd Gens but I figured they’re probably all the same….they are not. The bolts for 1st Gen tow hooks are slightly closer together than the newer Gens so I’m unfortunately gonna have to break out the Dremel on these fine pieces of hardware and rim one of the holes out a smidge on each.

I put these seat jackers in from Desert Does It. Gotta say, I’m surprised how much more comfortable the seat is by raising the front a little. I think between the angle and having support under the legs is what does it. You can see the height and angle change compared to the passenger seat in the last picture. Very happy with this quick mod.

My cans are starting to look a little rough from salt and whatever else they encounter but still no leaks and never had a rock touch them like the haters say will happen.

O come on, it's really not that complicated. Hoping in January I can get my second version laser cut and bent and everything works like it should from my CAD model. Should be relatively universal as long as frame widths are close to the same.

Dang. I was literally thinking of him when I put these on. Thought to myself “this is gonna make his day.”

Wonder what he got banned for.

I am not sure what the final sin was, but he had several previous, and he held the record for "reply bans" I guess for being argumentative in some threads.

not according to all my buddies :p but I agree it’s a super simple design. Just a pivot and am the same winch that already existed. Hardest part for me was the welded universal joint socket extensions that lead to the bumper spot because apparently the movement of the bed and bumper is far more sensitive than I thought.
