Sorry if this has been posted before, but I was unable to find the info using the search function.
I have a 2011 Tacoma Double Cab Pre Runner 4.0 V6 2wd and I'm close to my first oil change. The factory oil filter on the truck is a Toyota 90915-20004. I see that this oil filter has been discontinued and I would like to know which Toyota filter replaces it. I came up with a 90915-YZZD3, but would like to verify this before I place an order.
    Thanks for any help!

    90915-20004 = Made In Japan
    90915-YZZD3 = Made In Thailand

Don't know why the ones from the factory come with the Japan filter but all dealerships use the Thailand one...

Take a look at your oil filter now I bet it says made in Japan on it.

The oil filter is not discontinued, it just depends how much you want to pay for it. I bought a case two years ago for $100 and some change.

What weight oil do you use in your V6 4.0?

5-30 like in all modern cars. Ya don't mess with the viscosity. They don't oil like your grandad's truck. There's no giant lifter ports to drain oil down. They run pressures that would likely pop gaskets on old cars. Its all volume and pressure now. Not straight gap filling. There's no reason to look anywhere else. Maybe a 0-30 if you were up in alaska or something, but I think in the manual it says 5-30 even for that.

I don't remember if it asks for synthetic. Most "recommend " it now-a-days.

I go with the mobil 1 based on some test results I saw years ago. If not that, then castrol. I just like the bottle on that I think.

Also check out Toyota of Dallas. I got a good price on a case too. They also have good prices on OME parts too. I think I got a case of 10 for $39.00
