Good to hear. Sounds like it really caught everyone by surprise. I have some family in wheat ridge and they were watching it closely too.

Sure hope that’s the end of it

Didn't need a gym when wrangling an old truck without power steering around... A different era

I was watching every bit of media I could get my hands on ab it given how close it was to my friend's place. It was wild

I believe NWS stated July-December was the dryest period ever in CO history and we had another bout of 80-100mph winds that made all of it possible. This is definitely a first time thing for the foothills at least that I can remember.

Those things are quick. Fastest car Toyota was selling at the time if I’m not mistaken.

That's why the old timers always rolled up their sleeves. The gun show workout driving without power steering.

I'm amazed that it (seems to have) burned itself out overnight. I thought for sure I'd wake up to stories about half of suburban Denver being on fire.

The videos are wild. Clips from the cabs of police/fire vehicles driving down streets where every house is more flame than structure. This morning, the aerial shots show neighborhoods where there's an ash-filled hole in the ground wherever a house should be.

And 24 hours ago, it was just a windy day.

Maybe. It had a new set of shocks under it, so someone might have been hunting it already. One of the clunks could easy be control arm bushings, but the other one almost felt like the drivetrain was loading up and then coming free after it had stopped, like some sort of spring. I fear that might be an awd related issue.

Shit like this is why I put together a go box a few months ago - documents, water, first aid, clothes, etc. Things are getting weird.

Jesus that's crazy. Looks like pics from the town of Paradise out here that burned to the ground a couple years ago during a wildfire. That's really sad especially during the holidays.

Yeah, thankfully this seems to be a much smaller disaster than Paradise and the Camp Fire--current estimate is "only" 500-1000 homes burned and no reported missing persons or known casualties at this point.

It was really fortunate that the winds died down overnight and that snow is starting to fall now. The fire was tracking east/southeast, and with 100mph wind gusts it had the potential to move far and fast.

I'm wiring up a 66 Chevelle so yesterday it was time to get some battery cables into it. Thought you guys might like seeing it. Had to make a bracket for the kill switch too

Nothing official yet, but speculation is downed power lines.

It's strange to think that a wildfire that destructive can do so much damage overnight then be quelled by winter weather the next day. Crazy times we're living in
