Falken Wildpeak at3w 265/75 R16

Just ordered a set (265/75R16) from @Discount Tire. It was up in the air between Wildpeak A/T3W and the Toyo Open Country AT III. Open Country was out of stock, so I ended up going with these. Shout out to Taylor at Discount Tire, also. I had one of the best customer experiences ever with her and will be buying tires exclusively from Discount Tire from now on.

Tire pressure/sensor question.... 2015 Tacoma TRD PRO, sticker in the door jam says LT265/70/16 46psi or 265/70/18 29psi (not sure on that size..) anyways,
I just bought Falken Wildpeaks AT3w's 265/75/16 set the pressure to 35 psi, now the idiot light is on for the tire pressure sensors. Any ideas?
There must be a million people that have changed their tires size and had this issue. Thx in advance.

 

Mine are at 40psi and it rides like a covered wagon. 35 was my preferred psi with my previous tires.

 

Just a follow up to say how impressed I've been with the 265/75/16 Falken Wildpeak A/T3W SLs on my third gen TRD Off-Road on rainy and snowy roads in Washington State. Made two drives like the above on Mt. Baker Hwy 542 and they handled like a dream. No regrets with these tires!

 

What kind of lift do you have?

 

No lift, @ghoticov . The 265/75/16 Falkens are 1” larger than the stock tires but otherwise you’re looking at a 100% stock Tacoma

 

Nice, looks great! Look like stock OR wheels? Any spacer? Looks like they poke a little.

 

They are the stock rims with no spacers. Literally just a tire swap, that’s it!

Any rubbing or mpg loss over the stock Goodyears? Also do they feel as stable on the highway?

 

Have been very happy with the Wildpeaks in the Sierra winter.

 

No rubbing on 265/75, but you will see a small decrease in mpg anytime you run a larger tire. It is fairly negligible in this small size bump.

They are better than the stock Goodyears in every category.

 

thanks. Some of it won’t show by hand calculating mileage since distance travelled will be underreported by the odometer, so you got that working for you. I’m looking at the SL rating which I think are ~44lbs

 

Agree with what has been said. Zero rubbing. And no question you trade a little fuel efficiency and torque with slightly heavier, 1” larger tires in return for better rain, snow, OR handling, ground clearance and aggressive looks. If you only ever drive on dry roads the stock tires would be hard to beat. Otherwise the A/T3Ws are one of the best 3PMS rated do it all tires. I suspect you would be happy with them.

 

I just purchased 265/75r16 and I'm wondering what the recommended cold psi is? I originally had p265/65r17 on my trd sport long bed and on the door, it said 29psi. Because these are different size tire and rim combo, what should I be setting them to?

I run 35-40 on my e rated

 

With the SL version, I was told 35 psi for my otherwise stock 3rd gen DCLB TRD Off Road by Discount Tire (in Bellingham, WA). When it gets cold and snowy the tires naturally lose some pressure and register 33 psi while driving which feels good for icy road conditions where I live. When temps increase they naturally return to 35 psi.

 

The 70s will be lighter and your odometer will be more accurate as well. The 75s will give you 0.5" more ground clearance. I haven't experienced rubbing with my 75s in practice but will update if it happens.
