TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

They are a total breeze to swap out. I wouldn’t fret about it and go with the bearings only. Once the pulleys are off the truck, I’d be surprised if it took more than 5 mins to exchange cartridges.

 

I have bad luck with bearings.. fingers crossed everything goes smoothly

 

They were very easy for me as well, and typically things dont go smoothly for me lol. I went with the Timkens that you outlined in here at one point and they worked perfect

 

Out of curiosity, do you guys think I should swap the idlers on the engine as well while I am in there? Truck is at about 95k. I really didn’t check which bearing is bad since its such a tight fit in there with the fan shroud. I could do it for piece of mind I suppose but at the same time I am pretty sure the engine ones last much longer than the supercharger idlers.

 

I would recommend it. I am going to go all through when I change out my alternator. Once you get the fan and belts off it is all right there. Undoubtedly, the ones I don’t touch would start making noises.

 

Once you take the fan and fan shroud off there is tons of room to work on the front of the engine. It's a toss up in my opinion to swap them all out just cause you're in there. The fan and shroud are easy to take off, I've done it a handful of times now. It's not a hard area to get back into later.

I know it was cammed and had a tune at a minimum.. because he was making excuses.. I mean.. telling me what he was working with at the next light. Lol. Ultimately.. good dude and good attitude.

Kinda surprised me too honestly. First real hit since the camper went on. Probably gonna be the last time it's quick like this too. My rear dual swing out bumper arrived yesterday. Another 300+ lbs about to go on.

 

His accelerator-ometer isn't as finely calibricated as yours.

I had my ABS Killswitch toggled too (turning everything off) since I didn't want the surging issue to show up during the pull.. which caused some decent wheel spin off the line. Plus it was sprinkling out. Then it grabbed and went!
