    I’ve been sitting on this project for a couple of years. Picked up an e locker rear end, wiring harness, 4x4 control computer, and button for $400. I pulled the 3rd member and checked everything out. E locker works and the gears seem fine. Im hoping that this swap is easy, but I’m worried about the wiring. It should be plug and play, but it’s hardly ever that simple. If anyone has any tips or tricks, they’ll be greatly appreciated! I know how TW likes pictures so I’ll post some

    Seriously I can't imagine that the wiring for the E-locker would be that hard.

    Hopefully I can just swap wiring harnesses. I’m trying to run it exactly like the come from the factory. I assume it runs along the frame and up into the cab under the driver’s seat. Like I said, hopefully it’s just plug and play bc all the wiring is supposed to be the same across trim lines. But I’m hoping someone has done this before and can confirm

    @jeg005,

    When I swapped in an E-locker into my 2004 PreRunner with 3RZFE, the wiring I used was OEM, from the switch to the e-locker harness. I hope that helps. That being said, running changes by Toyota do exist, and your experience may vary.

    Did you run into any issues? Or was it just plug and play.

    The only difference from stock was having to re-route the E-brake setup from old style to the new (my PreRunner is a 2004). The stock switch was hard to find, but I found one on ebay, and got the front harness out of a boneyard truck.

    Sadly I have not. I believe there’s plug and play harnesses you can buy these days though

    I did an e locker axle swap and used the Low Range Harness... Very easy. You should have no issue with the factory stuff either but if it becomes an issue the harness from Low Range would be a no brainer.
