I had a "C" wall between my kitchen and living room that I took out to make a "great room", and I was always worried the long part was load bearing. Having heard you say that now I'm less worried since the long was parallel, and the short parts were only a few feet from other walls.

I post occasionally in the general home improvement thread. I go too slow on my projects to keep a thread going. Hell, my fence I started on 6 months ago is still only half done.

This is actually part of my kitchen reno sorta. I have to get the washer and dryer hookups out of my kitchen if I want to have any space in there. So I'm sacrificing a bit of my larger spare bedroom for a closet to fit a stacked w/d combo.

Ive never framed a wall, or done drywall for that matter. So Im figuring it out as I go. The plumbing and electrical will be a breeze since I have access under the house and in the attic, and I do that stuff at work pretty often.

3 (or 4) stud corner with religious 16 or 24" OC. Trust me or you'll regret it.. like I do.

Plan is for 3 stud corners. 16" center, insulated with R-13 to help with noise since the w/d will share a wall with my bedroom.

Sucky part is that I need to run 10/3 romex for a dryer outlet. Stuff is $250 for 100 ft right now. Im also gonna run a dedicated 12/2 circuit for the sump pump under the house since this new wall will make it easy to fish wire down there. Add the outlet for the washing machine and Im nearing $500 for wire.

I never could get over how weird a stepside minitruck is. The Toyota version is also just laughably bad looking. It's like when a kid gets his first widebody kit and installs it themselves.

I have a slant six waiting to be installed. I might turbo it or supercharge it later on.

Ya never skimp on the insulation. I have half a mind to add it to my interior wall for the same reason: to cut down on sound transmission, but I'd have to scrap and re-attach and finish a ton of drywall. I'd pay more for mineral wool as it's better for sound, and skip the premium blue stuff - just from experience.

Ouch but sounds about what I paid. When I bought 8/3 when I put in a new flush mount stove top I actually found some interesting $/ft differences depending on the packages. So make sure you check on buying by the foot, 50ft, 100ft, even look at much more than you need or higher gauge, etc and even underground rated, which oddly was marked cheaper in some cases. I used the extra 8/3 to run 240V to the shed I built and to add a welding/RV plug to the garage. I bought the UG rated by the foot to wire my 240V compressor through some metallic conduit because, again, strangely, it was cheaper than classic Romex. But I don't think there's any reason you couldn't use it in a wall - it was just bundled flat instead of radially.

I'm not really looking to make power with it. I got it mainly for the yearly cruises here for Hot August Nights, plus a slant sets it apart from all the other v8 swaps and I don't really feel like upgrading all the drivetrain to accommodate the high hrsprs.

Fair enough, I wasn't thinking V8. Maybe another I6 though....

Good call on using UF cable instead. Ive had good luck finding romex on facebook market for a pretty good discount, so I have options.
