Hey Bill, couldn't help but notice that all but three of the vehicles you owned since about 2008 are white; I guess your family really likes vehicles that will never hit anything?

Some of that is just chance. The Prius was Blizzard Pearl because that's what the wife wanted. The kid's Polar White Yaris was just what I happened to find at the time. The wife's current Corolla is Super White but only because it had the 2 tone gray and black interior which is what she wanted. White and silver were what I wanted on my rig.

That said....we've owned several non white vehicles since '08

The red 5-speed Yaris, that old blue Mazda B-series you picked up to wrench on, and the silver 2009 Tacoma that looked mine are the only ones I can think of...

Oh yeah, meant to ask you...

When you put foglights in your RC Tacos, did you ever wire them so they turned off when you turned on the high-beams?

No. The relay was triggered by the parking lamps with a rocker switch to turn them off if needed

I was thinking the exact opposite

I would keep the Taco. You basically have a new truck with no payment.

Your words, “I’m currently saving up for a house.”
You have a reliable vehicle, is it paid off? It’s safe to assume yes.
Once the charm of the new Ford wears off you’ll start feeling the regret. If you’re here looking for us to convince you the answer is simple, keep the Tacoma and save for the house you want.

My parents are big on all these new safety features; My dad has also told me "never pay sticker"...

That second think is kinda hard to do in this economy; Damn inflation!

It's been several years....but there is an unused circuit in the interior fuse panel that is hot only when the parking lamps are on. I used that to trigger the relay. The relay itself was powered off the battery. Then I simply used an old OEM fog light rocker switch from a 4Runner to interrupt that signal wire so I could turn them off if needed.

The fog lights functioned with the parking lamps, low and high beams and would turn on and off with the lights.

Looks are 100% subjective. It's not like the 2nd Gen RC is particularly attractive vehicle. I owned 2 of them and that's my opinion.

That said....exterior asethics are nearly meaningless to me. I don't run along side the vehicle and admire it while driving. What matters is what it looks like and feels like behind the wheel.

And a new frame hardly constitutes "a new vehicle". It's still the same mechanical components prior to the frame swap....along with all the other components and systems.

There’s no reason to defend your position if you like it or not:rofl:. I just think it’s ugly.

All of this has been done to it and with only a 140k miles on that 2.7l is why I said it basically new.

I haven't seen a Maverick yet and the one Santa Cruze on the transport was the only one of those I've seen. I was just curious for a vehicle for my daughter whose still in college. I thought maybe 25k tops..They're priced like a new Tacoma!

I'll be blunt because it has been beneficial to me in the past. I say this with love and wish someone had said it to me a long, long time and many cars and motorcycles ago.

If you have a perfectly good car but are distracted by a shiny new one, you are not really trying to save for a house and probably not financially mature enough to handle owning a home anyway. Your priorities are backwards and will keep you exactly where you are.

Now, go prove me wrong. I see your posts and how much you work. Do better with your money and the time you sacrifice to make it. Or, pick up a car payment, be excited about it for a couple months, and kick the dream of home ownership further down the road.

FYI, plan on ~%6 down, closing costs if the seller won't cover, ~$8k for appliances and furniture and keep at least $10k in your savings for major repairs like HVAC or a roof. All this assuming you don't have to fix anything before moving in. All that is well over the cost of a Maverick.

Very valid points. The thought of mortgage insurance is a....:annoyed: and to avoid that I think requires more like 15% down. Mortgage insurance; making people who've been responsible with their money pay for those who got in over their heads. :censored:
The home I'm in now was in need of a new roof, HVAC, and about 10 grand worth of concrete tear out and replace to prevent future foundation troubles. So I put 30k equity into the house then refinance to get rid of that :censored:PMI

That loaded up Santa Cruze can pop $42k easily. I decently loaded up FWD Maverick is in the mid 20s. The Hyundai is cool looking. But it ain't that cool looking. It would be the Ford for me
