I remember friends saying how Toyota styling was out of date. I then had to inform that was because what they were seeing was 20 years old and all the competitors vehicles of that age were in the junkyard. I love my 2018 and expect it to last longer than me.

I'm just gonna throw this out there, in terms of where the Tacoma ranks in my book...

Why the wait? Back logged? Waiting on parts?

I am waiting 3 weeks just for it’s first 5000 mile service, was trying to time it perfectly when it rolled 5K, but oh well.

I laugh when those people with SuperDuty type pickups immediately think they are a “real trucker”. Then manage jackknife their “rigs” and trailers turning at the truck stop blocking off 2 rows of pumps.

A Swift box trailer just made that turn so can you brah. :cookiemonster:

I own '18 Taco, '97 C1500, '07 Ranger. Each is better than the others in a couple of categories. I drive the one that is most fit for purpose depending on what I am doing. Neither of the mid-size drive, ride or tow like the 1/2-ton LWB. Night and day. Neither keeps its resale value like the Taco. Can't drive resale value though.

My truck is in the shop right now. I Keep getting emission codes stating incorrect air fuel ratio. They're doing a leak down test + some other things as well. Truthfully not a good sign.

Earlier this year the cab mounts started squeaking real bad, leaf springs started rusting really bad and squeaking as well, rear diff whine got a lot louder, front diff started screaming as well, 3rd brake light recall.

It's like the truck turned four years old and decided it's time for retirement.

Always wanted to drive a beach.

Do you ever have close calls almost running people over who are laying down?

I hope so. The 3.5 in the 3rd gen has no historical precedence of reliability.

We'll see as time goes on, though.

I think much of the squeaking, and rusting could have been avoided if you had sprayed the chassis down with cosmoline

It was coated. I also religiously wash my vehicles once every 2 weeks and immediately after I touch any kind of dirt.

It was nothing I could have done. It was just the truck.

It's not the end of the world, but I think back to the 1996 tacoma I had and the reliability/bulletproof-ness isn't there 20 years later in my opinion and experience.

Not to knock Toyota, but all 3rd Gen Toyota have a design flaw that Toyota is totally aware of, but because its really not a safty issue, they are denying it! If you live somewhere where humidity is not an issue then you are ok! There's a thread on here called Leaking AC where it's been talked about but nobody seemed to do anything about it but I'm pursuing it through the courts. (LEMON LAW).
The HAVC BOX literally sweats on the outside of it and drips water on the passenger side floor, had it to the dealer 4 times, one time they took the glove box out so they could see what was going on and showed me! Of course dealer opened a case w/ Toyota headquarters, headquarters and the Toyota engineers are aware of it but there is no fix for it, so they just say, operating as designed and characteristics of vehicle! I just couldn't believe I paid 40,000$ for a brand new vehicle and someone was telling me it was normal to have water on my carpet and floor mat! Short trips around town no problem, mostly highway driving for awhile, then slowing down or stopping is when it drips!

It is nice clear, clean looking water coming out, thinking about setting up a moonshine still on the passenger side and become a runner! Lol

2016 SR 2.7 4 cyl, I’ve literally only replaced one Idler pulls so far. I will say, it’s a gutless wonder and most of its life it’s on stone and pavement. But shit reliability wise I can’t complain. However being in Ohio, the winter cold knock bugs the hell out of me. Rear main seal is starting to leak a bit to, but outside of that no real major issues. 106k miles

This past weekend, me and my guy decided to go up into the snow. He has an old Ford Square Body Truck, which he's been rebuilding, and for me, I wanted to see what my truck was capable of doing? Haven't driven in the snow yet (I've driven the snow going up the pass, but off-roading, I've not yet done).

What was really weird, being a Wrangler owner prior...was the immense numbers of Tacoma's up where we went. EVERY SINGLE ONE was a Tacoma, except one Forerunner. Zero jeeps! WTH? Pretty crazy shit.

Oh, by-the-way, I was AMAZED at the performance of this truck. I still have the stock tires, nothing progressive for - mud and snow. I'm still a novice when it comes to wheeling. Mostly because I won't go by myself for safety reasons, which has made it where I've not been able to get 'my hands dirty', persay. So this particular time, I was able to get some 'true wheelin' ' in . And I'M IN LOVE WITH MY TRUCK.

3 months back, I would have said, I'm not a 'truck' girl. But I needed something to tow my horse. (A), I didn't want a big truck, and (B), I simply can't afford a $60k monthly payment. And (C), you can't wheel the big ones so much. I liked the looks of the Tacoma, and what it offered, so I bought one. And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THE TRUCK!

Just hate how they made the seating, steering column part. I'm 5' 7", and I can't get the seat adjusted for comfort. I have a manual, so if I scoot the seat, where I can hold the steering wheel how I like, my knees are eating the dash. The lack of being able to adjust the steering wheel differently, is absolutely ludicrous! Oh well. I've just had to make it where my hands hold the steering wheel down low, versus my left hand at the top☹️☹️.
