I just used one of the tank feet/platform things that I bought from UHaul when I bought my tank, and use a long cable lock to secure a bunch of stuff in the bed, with the propane tank being the last item in the sequence to be secured. Never had an issue with it moving around doing this.

What size tank do you have? If it's a 20#er, slip that tank into an old plastic milk crate. It's the perfect fit and will be very stable on the wide, square base. And will be very easy to tie down if necessary.

Genius! That's what I wanted to hear! Was thinking an old tire would work too, especially a mower tire (wider). I have easier access to milk crates though. Thanks!

This is exactly what I do.

also, peal the plastic wrapper off the tank, it holds moisture and rusts.
