Thinking of doing a new exhaust system sometime this year, suggestions?

    Want a nice low rumble
    Not ricey.

been looking at a few magnaflow off road pro cat back setups. They look nice and not too pricey really

2nd on the TRD Performance Exhaust.
Had it on my '06 TRD OR - still in great shape when I sold the truck after 15 years.
Have it on my '21 TRD OR.
Reasonably quiet until you really get on the skinny pedal.
No real annoying drone at Interstate speeds.

TRD Pro Catback and Borla S Type will be the mellowest ones available for aftermarket. The TRD more so than the Borla S type.

The magnaflow is loud, which was surprising to me as magnaflow is known for making quiet exhausts. MBRP and Carven will be the loudest and raspy. R4t has a dumped exhaust that's deep, but supposedly not raspy.

I'm leaning towards the TRD catback myself. This is my favorite setup (URD Y, TRD Catback, TRD intake flow accelerator piece and K&N Drop in filter...

Let's be real here - a V6 just ain't the same as a V8 when it comes to exhaust sound.

What muffler would be similar to the MBRP XP performance, but more in tune , maybe more balanced . Im not a muffler pro

TRD is the only thing that has an ok sound to 'my' very trained ears.

If you could make a Tacoma sound like a stock 350ZX that could be interesting. Suspect that's more engine configuration than mufflers, even though it's a 3.5 v6 too.

a v6 Tacoma and "low rumble" is not going to happen. Just say no to exhaust on these trucks. If you want a lower rumble, dump it before the rear axle and call it good. At least that doesn't sound anymore like a civic than they already do. IMO, every exhaust setup totally ruins these trucks and I'd never buy a used one with it so if you don't plan on keeping it for life, take that into consideration.

Borla s type or TRD would be my choices. Not ricey sounding at all and no drone. I stil love listening to my Borla after 3 years.

i have a Gibson CFT Superflow muffler available if anyone wants it. less than 1k miles, DFW. also have a Spintech 3000XL for anyone who wants to try stuff. the TRD muffler has about the best sound you can get from this motor at low-mid rpm, but it comes at the price of performance, which is clear when you work to open up the system's flow. i have a bunch of parts from just trying to get it where i like it.

I was in the same boat as you looking for a nice low rumble... after listening to all the clips on youtube of Tacoma's with aftermarket exhausts I ended up going with Carven. Still maintain there is no possible way to make these V6 Tacomas sound good but to me the Carven was the best sounding option. Should be installing soon!

Same here. The trd exhaust imo, sounds close to stock at least compared to my sr5. When it comes to v6's i'd rather not hear the exhaust at all.
