    20% down to avoid PMI; I have friends and family who are good with their hands and willing to help, so my goal is to buy the shittiest house in the nicest neighborhood and fix it up!

    Bill, does a 2015 Taco have the blind spot things in the mirrors or no?

    @Plain Jane Taco

    My aunt and uncle have a 2012 Prius V that they bought new and it has like 80K miles; The car has spent it's entire life in California, they are planning to replace it with a Tesla, and I am TEMPTED!

    The V was the most practical of the Prius line up. Huge amounts of room. The problem was it was rated in the low 40s MPG....nearly 10 MPG less than the Hatch and 13 MPG less than the C. So people tended to shy away from it. Plus, Toyota didn't produce many to begin with.

    Yea… I wouldn’t trust a Ford after my mother’s flex. Let alone a first model year. The extra features usually lead to more headaches anyway.

    Low 40s MPG is fine by me, and it's owned by my uncle who is just as nuts about vehicle maintenance as me! Like I said, I am tempted! My mechanic's friend bought a used 2012 Prius V; He loads his rifles in the back and takes the thing to range and on deer hunting trips!

    The prius v is a solid vehicle. Hell 120k out of brakes is normal

    I'm digging your 1st Gen with the 5th Gen T4R wheels! Also, what does your Tundy have? Appears to be T4R TRD PRO?

    And like I said, it belongs to a relative who is just as nuts about routine maintenance as me, plus the car has spent its whole life in Northern California!

    Yeah....hybrids tend to be easy on brakes.

    And the Prius uses the brakes to recharge, doesn't it? Regenerative braking?

    Yes....that's why they're easy on brakes. Much of the deceleration comes from the traction motor converting to a generator when off the throttle

    I strongly considered selling the Tacoma and buying this 1996 Toyota Carib last summer; It's JDM but it shares many of its parts with the Corolla and is easy to maintain!

    Why not? It doesn't seem like one of those things that would bother me that much in the long run...
