Picked up my first truck ever the other day, and I’m stoked. Will use it as a daily driver plus outdoor fun in the PNW. I already bought some 265 ATs, which get installed Monday.

And I’m selling my old Pontiac for cash, which I plan to use to get this mod show on the road.

Given my situation here, where would you put that Pontiac Money exactly?

The only thing I’m 100% sold on right now is a tonneau cover, but I don’t know which one. I want something of great quality, but don’t need the sexiest thing out there either.

I was looking at the Truxedo lopro, as it’s about in that range I was thinking. Only thing is, I’m the kind of guy who likes to be ready for whatever, and maybe I’m wrong, but it seems like a motivated thief with a knife could easily access the goods in my truck bed. Plus destroy muh tonneau cover. For that reason I was looking at the Sentry, which seems to resolve this potential issue, but seems a bit spendy (I’m trying to save $$ for whatever other mods I deem essential too!).

So that’s where I’m at with the Tonneu cover. Is there one out there that has it all for me?? Haha. And what should I do with the rest of my Pontiac money?

It’s an 08 G6 GT. People are beating my door down to pay the top KBB value that I posted an ad asking for… crazy market considering I found myself feeling lucky to buy this Taco for sticker (no surcharge) lol.

Welcome to the forum :hattip: and congratulations on the first truck!
Tires are the biggest bang for your buck upgrade, you already have that covered. Most folks also feel a bed mat is a great investment too.
With a nice new truck it is a good idea to hit the underside with some rustproofing if you are in a snow area, I like Cosmoline.

Don't go crazy buying things just to buy them, these trucks are very capable right off the showroom floor, live with it awhile and you will find yourself saying "I need that".
Have fun with the truck and post up a picture, we like pictures here and :spending:!

Drive it around for awhile, break it in and get a feel for what Mods you would find to be most useful

Welcome and congrats! The first thing I added to the truck was a tonneau. I looked hard at the BakFlip MX4 and the LoMax, ultimately going with the BakFlip since you don't need to completely remove it to use the whole bed. The AT3's are definitely the way to go IMO. The real answer of course is: mod your truck according to YOUR intended uses.

Nice looking truck, take a bit to get know it and then let the fun begin. Take your time selling that G6, wait for the highest offer...

And let the modding begin! So many options for the Tacoma to really make it yours.

    Great choice and welcome!

    Beautiful color! :101010:
I almost had a BR in my driveway but the dealer who had the only manual within 700 miles wouldn't do a trade.
It worked out better for me in the end so no regrets. :)

I've had a soft Amazon tri-fold cover for over 2 years here in the PNW, and have had zero issues with it and no signs of theft attempts. Only cost me about $200 for the long bed. Trust me if a thief wants to break in they will do it regardless how much you spent, its more of a deterrent imo. Better rule would be to not leave expensive items back there than dropping a shiny penny on a cover, but its your call!
Nice truck, love the red! :headbang:

Return the tires. Get some suspension, rear leaf pack UCA and new rims. Get tires 285/70/17 and a bed cover.

You’ll end up doing that after being on this forum for a month save yourself the money now with the tires lol.

    welcome!

This may not be the advice I want, but I can tell that it’s the advice I need.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    All very good advice.
Avoid the major structural mods until you're sure you REALLY need them. Major mods do come with headaches as you'll find if you hang around TW too much.

You'll do just fine here. lol.

I have a LoMax tri fold but have not had it long enough to know much about it. My family has the same one on their Ram 2500 and they previously had it on a Ram 1500. Did great for them. I expect the same.

Don't let the peer pressure here get to you ;)

Yeah you are correct regarding the motivated thief issue. I can see myself settling for the deterrent effect of a soft roll up tonneau now that you put it like that. As for the rule, it would be my general rule not to leave expensive things in my truck bed for sure, but I know there will be the rare unavoidable exceptions, which is what I am trying to think ahead for.

I highly suggest a bed mat as well, stuff is going to be flying around and rolling everywhere without it. These composite beds scratch very easily just a heads up.
