You will not be able to return it. This company does not reply to their customers. Lots of others having issues with the hud. Check out their social media. Unplug it before it sets fire to your truck.

Did that a week or two ago myself. Works great, but then I couldn't help but notice how dim the OEM lights are, so I upgraded those to LED today. Really good combo, the two mods.

What that looks like, though I also installed the MESO Stage 1 LED tail light kit so the photo would look like they are even brighter with stock tails.

Did you have a link to the lights? And wear they easy to replace under those light covers?

and no, I had the impression that they could be pulled out from behind the bumper, but nope. I had to pop the covers off to remove them. There's two latches that you have to press to release from the rear (PITA, but a long pry-bar got it done). Make sure you turn your lights on before you reseat the lights though. They are LEDs and won't work if they are plugged in backwards. I made that mistake and had to pull the first housing back out. I actually had my lights on at the time, but didn't realize my mistake until after the audible click of failure. "dammit..."

-Heftier and more aesthetically pleasing then prinsu- with color matching options
-improvement on wind noise, aerodynamics- lots of complaints about prinsu and wind drag noise
-more customization of lighting with wind fairing- light bars integrated

by no means do I think prinsu is a bad rack. Just doesn’t feel like similar build quality and seamlessly integrated into the tacoma. And also wind noise would drive me nuts

Well you can get the colored matching armor panels for the prinsu. How is it seemsly integrated over the prinsu? You saying the alpha doesn’t have wind noise?

do you have a decent color guide for wires in the dash? Tried doing a similar dual switch mod but got hung up on the color differences.

I know several people here in Colorado switch out their prinsu for Alphas because of wind noise issues. I myself went straight for an Uptop based on these reviews. I’ve had the Alpha installed for 4 weeks now with almost no noticeable difference in noise. The only exception was the recent windstorm we had - blowing 80-100mph headwind gusts straight at the truck. Needless to say, I heard some noise then.

also, we have a lot of Tacomas with prinsus and Uptops around town here so I get to see a lot of examples of them installed. Personally, I feel like the Alpha is more part of the truck. More OEM feeling. Where as prinsu really looks like a technical roof-rack on the truck.

Yeah I haven’t seen any in person. Still trying to decide. After watching the r4t video the uptop looks very extensive to install

Looking at the photo, it doesn’t look like it would be that hard if they thought it out more thoroughly. The preexisting hole above could of easily accepted a rivnut (once thickness/diameter etc were figured out) and extended the bracket to that point, looks to be only an extra 2”. To me the hardest part would be to account for the sandwiched sheets that are off center and the right rivnut and I’m sure McMaster would have something suitable. As long as it was included with the kit it’s still a pnp no drill install, being that a good portion of ppl look specifically for thAt in mods (at least starting out) and would much rather install a rivnut in a current hole than drill making a new.

There was only one hood strut available when I got mine and it was the hardest mod I had to install only because it was the first mod I had to drill into the new truck through all my attempts to avoid it

I definitely had to fight it but when I replaced the lights I did it from the rear. I didn’t want to pry the cover and break it unknowing of tab location. Believe there were cut up knuckles after

its really not that bad if you are modestly handy with a few hand tools. I did most of it in the dark

Well yesterday i locked myself inside the truck! While in the back seat I closed the back doors, to listened to the sounds of my hard work (Kicker spkrs install) and yep, you guessed it, I couldn't open rear drivers door! Got out the passenger side no problem. Tried both the in and outside handles and it's not opening that door Any mechanicaly inclined saviours out there on this matter?

Your child lock on that door is activated. They're on the door itself. It looks something like the photo below.
