Hmm you should still be able to open from the outside I believe if that were the case.
I'm thinking the cables aren't In there proper place (out or off) in the inside panel door chrome handle assembly.

Ahh....I missed that it wasn't opening from the outside. That said, did you mess with the child lock button? I wonder if a partial engagement would render both handles inactivated?

I know it's an old post, but do you remember the thread size of the hardware? I'm looking into buying a rivet nut tool and this will most likely be the first project with it. Just want to make sure the kit I get has everything needed. Thanks.

I don't think I did, I'm almost certain I didn't, and now with the door permanently locked I can't get to that switch even I think. I took the back black plate off the inside handle and I can't see the end of the wire with the ball end in its slot. Oh boy that can't be good

Washed and waxed it last weekend. Friday I applied a ceramic coating. Used the Nu-Finish ceramic coating. Took the shine to a different level, but I will wait to see how long/well it holds up. For $16.00 and an hour of my time I'm liking the immediate results.Truck Pic 13.jpg Truck Pic 11.jpg Truck Pic 10.jpg Truck Pic 9.jpg

Now to pull heavy load to test out what highest temp trans will get to. The dealership says my truck has tow package but it has no secondary cooler. I found a Toyota factory cooler in junkyard so if i find out i need one that will be next project. Something else i did for first time since purchasing this 2wd taco was to take a 10 mile dirt road trip just to see how the factory suspension handles washboard roads, did just fine. I also just installed used tires and rims bought off marketplace. They are at's but i may want something more aggressive. It came with blacked out rims on street tires. There are some other threads on this issue. If you open the inside handle further than normal it should open. Then you can fix the cables.

Not what I did, but what I found. Opened up an old Christmas popcorn tin recently that had bunch of old Matchbox types cars and trucks from my younger days. And in there was an old yellow Toyota 4x4 in there.

    Good memories.

I have the same one, thing did absolutely nothing to get my truck started a few days ago... it was -5 degrees out and the truck had been sitting at the airport for a week. I hooked it up, pushed start and all I got was beep beep beep followed by no lights on the bank.

I'm new to TW, but putting the finishing touches on my bed drawer/sleeping platform today. Just need to add some paint, and handles to the drawers and front hatches (hatches to access the area in front of wheel wells). I could have spent some more time on the cuts, but was after function over form.

I added the Matt Gecko bed light kit. Ran from battery to a dedicated switch to the left of the steering wheel. Dome light and key not needed. I do have mine wired so it lights up with the dash lights on and the brightness is adjustable with the dash light adjustment. Some people add a switch to the inside of the bed somewhere near the tailgate. Very happy with mine.

Side Note. Like your profile pic. I actually know Bill Murray. He gave me a bottle of champagne back in 2012 and told me and my wife to have a happy new year. Still have the bottle and made a candle out of it. Great guy in person.
