What would be the best wiper blades for my Tacoma 2013? And what blade refills are the best?

I've been using PIAA silicone on all my vehicles for 10 years. Lil' expensive to start but refills are normalish therafter and I only have to replace them every couple years instead of every six months like the cheapies.

I’ve been looking for refillable blades. Currently running oem. Not too bad. Last about a year

I would suggest to clean and compound your windshield very Thoroughly, and then apply ceramic coating of a nice coat of wax.

this will dramatically help your windshield wipers do their job. And most of the time, the rain will just run off without the wipers even.

but as far as wiper, we buy ours at Costco, and they last about 2 years in Sacramento, California

I like the oem brand NWB

I used to use the fancy one piece style like Bosch ICON but after a while I realized they aren't that great. And I drive in the snow a ton

I agree with the others who have said OEM is the way to fly. The actual metal part of the wiper blade lasts forever. All you have to do is buy refills at your dealership and they're quite reasonable. (Pretty easy to install too.) I've tried many of the fancy total replacement systems and they just aren't as cost effective in my opinion.

OEM refills, keep ‘em clean by wiping them with a wet soaked rag periodically. The daily grime they accumulate leads to scratch windshields and rubber breaking down in the wiper’s.

Properly clean and decontaminate your windshield.

Iron remover, clay bar, deep degreasing, alcohol scrub.

    Apply a proper glass coating.

New blades (I actually like Bosch Icons), and then every time you wash your truck, give the blades a wipe down with an alcohol wipe, this will remove gunk and oils on the rubber.

Your wiper blades should last close to two years this way and perform great. You will need to re-apply glass coating every few months.

I buy Rain-x brand at Costco which sells them cheap. I replace them every Year in the fall. Cheap, easy, no fuss, no muss ,no problems. Easy peasy. The automotive industry suggests replacement every 12 months or less.

It doesn't really matter. They will most likely need to be replaced every year.

Well, at least in this area. Temperature (yearly) will range from -25*F to 100*F. Ice, snow, heat, blazing sun.......bugs, grit, leaves, pine needles, tree sap....all conspire to convert the blade to a chattering streak making device.

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
Upstate NY I run the rubber encased frame winter blades
Being in VA u prob won’t need them. A clean decontaminated windshield is key. RainX is cheap and fairly good.

    genuine part from the dealer.

I goofed and cheaped out with WalMart ones that sucked and threw away my old frame (should've kept it)
ended up having to spend more for new frames at the dealer to have OEM, that came with new genuine wiper blade inserts
then when these wear I can re-use the old frames and replace the inserts for cheaper

worked well and so far lasted at least a year

wipers are tricky because sometimes you'll think the wiper is bad when really the windshield has problems such as:
    -needs cleaning inside
    -needs cleaning outside
-needs detailing outside, whether it be razor blade scrape, iron-x decon, polish, apply rain-x, etc.

You guys talking about the OEM refills - what is the part number?

I once bought Sightline wiper blades direct from a dealership (since these are advertised as being OEM replacements) but they were made in China junk.

I will look and see if the receipt is still in the pocket behind the seat. The refills were $28. I used to get them from camelback but they have been discontinued, same for McGeorge parts.

I bought the silicone wiper blades about 6 months ago and I have to admit, I'm likely not going this route again. They almost work too well and really grab the glass. It's a real pain in the rear when it's misty out and the rate of rainfall is changing. I get a lot of chatter if the windshield isn't fairly wet.
I do however, highly recommend the Rain-X windshield washer fluid. Using that, I use my wipers a lot less at highway speeds. The rain just rolls right off the windshield.
My son drives a Jeep Wrangler and he has the same opinion of the silicone wiper blades.

Discontinued is what I found too. Why do you guys think dealers are discontinuing them? After reading all the positive experiences people have had with them on previous threads I wanted to try them out. The only thing the dealer carried was cheesy throw aways. I’ll pass.

I have run the Napa oem exact fit blades for years and they work well. They get replaced every fall. All exterior glass gets deep cleaned and treated with rain-x several times a year.

I picked some Bosch ICONs put them on my Tacoma and they work great. They are 4 years old, not a single streak on my windshield when using them. Picked up same kind for my corella and they suck. With in 2 months they were streaking like a $9.99 pair of Walmart blades. Got them from two different big box car parts stores. One seems real, other has to be a Chinese knock offs.
