    Yep, I wouldn’t mind 255/80/17 as well…

Starting today it’s gonna be around 1, 2 in the daytime and around -3, -4 at night, so not bad at all. Don’t think we will be getting those frigid temps again this year. It was -15 for a while there.

Maine don't you get a lot of snow and freezing rain. studded Hakapelitta. They have served me well two winters in snow, freezing rain, from Calgary Canada to Anchorage Alaska Highway/ALCAN.

I assume you are on the Centigrade temperature scale. If so, those aren't very cold. Keep in mind, I become uncomfortable when the temp falls below 60*F (~14C).

Those temperatures aren't very cold for, say the Prairies, but for our area, that low was a record for this time of year. Usually here in the lower mainland and lower Vancouver Island are pretty mild. Usually we get the freeze thaw cycle from day to night...

I like the "usually", sitting in Campbell River, had about 14" of snow on the ground this am, but and now it is pouring rain. Gotta love the slush that is now happening.

After we came out of a deep freeze last week.

Have been using the Wildpeak AT3W for the past two months in the Sierra range. Has been great on ice & snow.

If you can afford them, blizzaks are great choice imo. Where I live they perform admirably in awful conditions though I don't offroad much in winter other than on my property. Sure KO2s get through snow ok but they definitely won't stop like a dedicated winter tire

Yeah. What a wild technology. Probably used equal parts DDT and Asbestos.

Southern Interior BC has been steady at -25C to -20c since Christmas. Warmed today to -15C. Took the kid skiing since it was so warm.

Fellow Mainer in the same boat. After finally securing a used set of wheels my local tire shop says they are sold out of Hakka 10's nationwide, which is what I had planned on getting. He tells me they still have some Nokian Nordsman 7, but those sound a little outdated.
Looking like Blizzaks are the fall back option.

I don’t recommend the duratracs as a snow tire even though they have the “snowflake” on the sidewall. I have a set and although they have been a decent all around tire they don’t preform any better then any other AT that I’ve used. Others have already said it but nothing comes close to a dedicated snow tire.

I agree. They’re good in deep snow. But that's about it. Being a PreRunner makes me better appreciate a dedicated winter tire. Tires and the LSD, along with experience and common sense keep me out of trouble. And even though I’m 2WD I still run 4 snows to enhance braking and turning.

But again....I also think it depends on the driving conditions one plans to drive in that might dictate the type of tire needed.

For two seasons I've had the OEM Good Year AT Adventure in some serious snow and sleet and they were better than expected. I really like the blizzaks on steelies especially on the frozen slippery stuff (as I get in the east) just don't run the blizzaks in temps above 45 degrees they wear quickly and feel like driving on marshmallows.

Completed a 25 mile journey home in 9" of the white stuff Thursday. A normally 30 minute highway drive turned into a 2.5 hour backroad route via a closed section of I-75.

With the traction control off and LSD on....I'm a PreRunner, no 4x4....the rig was rock solid. I was climbing hills that FWD cars and RWD trucks were struggling with. My biggest obstacles were human beings underestimating the conditions or over estimating their vehicles.

    Worth their weight in gold.
