Hi, for some reason the short hose from heater valve to heater core has a different style clamp as seen in drawing below. This is the last hose i have to replace but not sure how this clamp works. Is there a reason this one is different?

I replaced my heater valve last year, and mine had the cheesy one. I would not sweat it.

But can you tell me how to remove it, its jammed against the fire wall and I cant tell how it comes off, almost looks like you pull a pin?
Did you reuse it or change to the usual clamp style?

I replaced the other heater core/valve hoses and I had to be very delicate because I know everything on this truck breaks very easily and the hoses were welded on to the fittings.

    Thanks

It's called a cotter pin style hose clamp: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/cotter-pin-hose-clamps.1234318/
I usually take a pair of side cutters and cut the old one off and replace it with a "normal" type hose clamp.

Just use high quality clamps....I like the napa's....dont cheap here...
and your right to be gentle.....that valve(87240) if it has not been replaced before....might be worth splurging $20 or so on a new one...
they get very crispy after years sitting on top on engine........
    like a 10min job to replace......considering consequences...

Mine didn't have that clamp. I replaced them with normal screw type clamps. I had to cut off my hoses from the heater core, I replaced all of the hoses to be safe. The old grab and twist just crushed the copper outlets. Beware!
