i didn’t go to course, I didn’t want gouges.. I started at 220 on the chrome. For wet sanding I went 400 or 700(I think) between coats of primer. I didn’t sand between base coats. Wait till it warms up or it will be an all week process with paint drying.

Towed my son's car with a tow dolly Thursday and then moved him 120 miles in subzero temps this morning pulling a double-axle trailer. First time pulling anything since owning a truck. Nice accomplishment.

A couple weeks back I swapped the needle bearing for the ECGS bushing.

this weekend I installed SPC UCAs, 6112s, 5160s, and an ICON AAL

Thanks! yeah. I had a friend come by for the bushing swap to lend a hand. He hadn’t done one before but having both of us there I think really helped.

Taking it to get it aligned in the morning

20220101_173021.jpg 20220101_173029.jpgfinished up with my 5160/6112 combo on dakar leafs with front and rear superbumps and u bolt flip. Man this was a pain in the ass would recommend paying somebody to do it unless you have a lift and plethora of tools. Not alot of tools necessary if everything goes right but as most of you who wrench on your own there's at least one thing garunteed to go wrong with most bigger jobs.

All in all super happy with the results and to get those spacers off my truck and replace it with real parts. Soon I'll add some lsk upper control arms to get off the stocks.

Looks like we're in the same boat how are you liking it. I still need to install my ecgs bushing but don't have a puller also didn't want to take everything off as the wife wasn't too happy that it took me about a week to finish everything (between work and a 1 year old couldn't spend 100% concentration on my truck)

So far, im stoked. It definitely needs an alignment. Tires are squeaking a little and the steering feels wonky. Im very interested to see how it feels after that’s done.

The suspension seems to be a bit stiffer than the 5100s i had on before. Just the big potholes around the area that I’m used to going over felt harsher. This was what I expected though.

it took me 3 days. One day for bushing, one day for the front suspension and UCAs, and one day for the rear. If I had a one year old to deal with, I would be easily double that

Definitely do the bushing when you can. Better to knock it out before there are any issues IMO

Replaced the rear driveshaft ujoints and carrier bearing. First time using the HF ball joint press to do ujoints, worked fairly well.
Previously did them with an upright press, or a vise, or sockets and hammer, etc.

Been a busy few days. Started off with installing a heater core on a friends truck along with flushing and filling my coolant while I was at it.
    C2C15C60-A3A4-4E3D-BBF1-FD43EBA3106E.jpg

I had the Rockford tweeters in and read a lot about how much people liked the Subaru kickers so I swapped them out and I can say it was a dramatic difference. The sound quality is really mind blowing out of a small package. Along with installing those I sound deadened the doors and rear panel. Doing the sound deadening did wonders as far as highway driving and making the sound system sound even better.

    B2050C8F-00D6-4623-BDF0-2197E0F53D8E.jpg

I was finally able to get my reverse cam to mirror itself from the rear view mirror.

    D22BD7D5-4688-411D-8C9B-77A44BFF9B49.jpg

Installed some SDHQ battery terminals which really cleaned up the look under the hood. I also tied into the stock inverter to have an outlet inside the cab.

    D848FE5E-8963-4354-A434-300DA316FE1C.jpg

Lastly my favorite mod would be installing these hammer hangers. Along with doing so I took the RXT pack from Option 1 to Option 2. Option 1 was okay for riding around town with an empty bed but as soon as I go on a wheeling trip and have all the spare parts and camp gear it was just too much for the springs. It didn’t give much lift at all or change the ride quality which was great.

The hammer hangers make a huge difference as far as ride quality. I feel that no matter what leaf pack you’re running until you install these you truly aren’t taking benefit from the enhanced ride quality. Can’t wait to test them out in the trail.

Recently noticed some flaking and rust spots on the original chrome bumper on my 2006. Stripped it down and had it powder coated satin black to extend the life. Only regret is I didn’t do it sooner and stop the corrosion a few years ago.

And even tho my frame had been replaced under recall, they didn’t touch the bumper reinforcement bar, which is the actual structure to the bumper. So while I had the bumper off for coating, I replaced the bar too. And I soaked it in undercoating before putting it all back together. Much better than the rotten one they put back on with my new frame
