Nuclear power is one of the best solutions to green energy, far better than solar and wind in most cases and not reliant on weather conditions and daylight for production. We should be modernizing and building more not phasing them out.

I Photoshopped it with the lights horizontal and it looks so much better. I can't find the thread I put it in though..lol

Well what they are doing now is using old batteries from EV's as storage for when solar and wind can't keep up but Germany is doing something right to be able to shut down 3 plants.

Germany’s final nuclear shutdown plan was an unscientific knee jerk political reaction to the Fukushima disaster. Solar/wind/batteries are all good but also extremely area intensive. A 1000 megawatt plant occupies about a square mile, the same power generation by solar uses about 75 square miles. Both are clean emission free technology.

I don't blame that reaction. If they can make solar, hydro and wind work in place of Nuclear then they are better for it.

A lot of environmental groups no longer recognize nuclear as "green". While the waste is comparatively small in physical size, the long term and limited disposal solutions don't make it renewable. Many nuclear sites are being forced to store spent material onsite in what are meant to be temporary containment measures.

I think nuclear has its place in the future of electric power generation, along with true renewables, but its not the holy grail and need to solve waste storage at a larger scale.

The waste storage is a problem but a very minor one. The entire accumulated waste produced since the commercialization of nuclear energy in the US would fit within a football field stacked to a height of 30 feet. A single one inch fuel pellet produces the same energy as a ton of coal with no carbon emissions and a one inch pellet of spent waste.

The US currently does not do much if any recycling of waste products which still contain high levels of usable fissile material and can be used to continue to create power in certain types of reactors.

Yep. Wind and solar are not cheap sources of energy, and it takes acres of them to replace one nuclear power plant.

I keep hearing how the automakers are planning to (i.e. being forced) switch to 100% electric cars by 2035? That's nice, but what's the plan for our electrical grid? We barely generate enough power for our current needs, so where is the power going to come from when we have an additional 20M+ electrical cars tapping into the grid? California has rolling blackouts, so I guess we should expect that across the entire country. Heck, Texas couldn't keep the power on after a single ice storm last winter. That should be considered the norm for our future. I weep for America.

That would be pretty fun but I’d miss the screaming high rpm two stroke and having to wash your clothes after every ride because you stink like two stroke exhaust. I bookmarked their website for the future in case I move back somewhere with enough snow to keep a sled at the house again.

This has been discussed. When will we have 20 million EV's?. This isn't a flip of the switch change over. California blackouts are due to poor infrastructure and is being addressed by recent infrastructure legislation. It's going to be fine.

Pricing released for Ford Lightning. This is before EV tax credit and, unfortunately Ford's guaranteed dealer markup and listed with standard range battery. Seems it was all too good to be true.

Modern two strokes don't really smell much anymore. They hardly use any oil.

My last sled was a ‘13 Skidoo and it still smelled of two stroke. Buddy had a ‘17 Arctic Cat that did as well. Both were far better on oil than our old mid ‘90s machines but you’d still better take some on long trips.

Funny, I have a 16 Cat and don't think it smells. Of course you can still smell it but not bad enough were you need to leave your bibs and jacket in the garage. My last 2 stroke (had 4 stroke in between) was a 99 Doo 670 HO and it stunk bad.

Looks like it should be badged as an Avalanche not a Silverado.
