Yeah I already have the Howe pump and whatnot. I personally don’t like how light the steering is. But I do like the trade off of less feedback at the wheel. I’d imagine going wider with LT makes the steering a bit slow feeling.

i thought that, but the bumper bolts are right behind the HH. Does the 63 swap cover any of those up?

I don’t recall exactly how far back skips were but it was somewhere between the bumper and existing hanger bolts. This was a consideration of mine when I was cutting the frame but I figured if I reallllly wanted to I could weld the tips of the frame back in with some rectangle tube or something.

I’m going to do 2x3” tube back there so it won’t be hard to add a bit more if need be. I’ll just lop it off an inch past the hanger.

I used one of these to correct the flashing speed. It replaces the stock one behind the interior fuse panel

Does the steering seem less responsive with LT? This is my first go with long travel. I would imagine being wider it will make the steering feel slower and less responsive but maybe I’m wrong on that. I guess it’s always something I can take back off if I don’t like it. I know there’s times even mid travel where I wish it was more responsive.

I wouldn’t say it’s less responsive at all. I actually think it’s better…between the Howe pump and the slide rack keeping it all tight and no slop at all on my truck. I just think I need quicker and shorter inputs to keep the truck tracking where I want it at speed in the dez. I’m pretty sure it’s brought on by the fact that the can go faster thru the bumps.
But the other issue is the lag between throttle input and the engine responding. Never was an issue for me until going full LT. So now I’m thinking of getting the throttle commander to help with that.
Biggest thing I’ve noticed since going full LT is all the other shortcomings our trucks have that need to be addressed. It’s a never ending money pit. Though it’s nickel and dime stuff considering how much I’ve already spent. Unless/until I do a LS2 swap to really address the power issue.

That is definitely something I noticed with the slide rack. It definitely seemed to make the steering more responsive. But after doing the pivots and slide rack, I can push the truck substantially harder now. And that's when I start to notice something lacking with the steering. Like you said the faster you go the more input it seems to require. I have a couple of good sector shafts at home ive considered cutting apart to do a quick steer myself. But if the JD setup is in the justifiable range, I would just roll that way. The quickeners themselves are pretty damn cheap.

I have the archive boat hangers with some deaver u402's right now. I was going to do their shock relocate but I am toying around the idea of LT in the rear using the JD fab kit. Would I be able to use the JD fab shock relocation using my current SOA so if I decide to do LT, those will already be done?

Take it from someone whose been there done that with the archive setup, if you have any thoughts of going LT just do it and be done. By the time you buy the shock mounts and shocks you could sell the U402's and hammer hangers and damn near break even. I've learned my lesson on piecing stuff together long ago. It just isn't worth it.

No, I get that. which is why I want to use the JD fab shock mounts. If I can use those and the 14" shocks with my existing setup for now, I'll do that and if I decide to do SOA, I can take off the 402's and shackle mounts but still continue to use the shock mounts.

A shock mount is a shock mount. I see no reason it wont work.

I didn’t know anyone local to tweak my ecu so i sent mine to @JustDSM. His tune fixed up my throttle lag and shift points.

At this time it has no problems. All of my CA guys at the moment have not had trouble as the Calibration ID’s are all that are being checked. The tuning I (and my network) provide does not alter the Calibration ID number.

There has been talk of them comparing the Calibration ID and CVN. But I have not had anyone in CA report that to be actually happening (at this time).

Edit - I replied before I saw that @JustDSM replied, that's good to hear Justin I was going to do what you mentioned last time we spoke and pick up a spare ECU to have flashed to stock.

That’s still not a bad idea regardless. Let me know if you need me to reprogram the VIN for the new ECU - It’s on the house
