Yeah I know. Don't think one exists, and if it does we'll never find it because I don't know how I found that one. But here's a consolation prize.

Um…solar users still pay taxes too.

They are also still connected to the grid. A portion of the power he sells back is “taxed” for maintenance of this grid.

So, how am I being screwed by my neighbor with solar?

Unless you have home batteries installed like what Tesla is offering, that way you can charge your car or use your house at night etc.

Those massive turbines require helicopters, cranes, barrels of oil, and crews of people to build and maintain. They require more frequent maintenance because a failure could endanger other turbines and cut the power for millions. If you install solar or wind turbines on your property, that is less need for them to build more turbines that need all that revenue to maintain. You have acquired equipment that supports the grid, and the maintenance of that equipment falls upon you. But unlike massive turbines you won't need cranes, helicopters, or a crew costing 1,000's an hour to do it. This is why they subsidize solar and wind turbines for homeowners. Because it reduces the infrastructure that they have to build and maintain. Add the addition of batteries, maybe even a small diesel generator for extreme backup, and now you're connected to the grid literally only for the benefit of those incapable of making the power they require. The ones who are creating the demand for larger and larger grids that require more and more maintenance, aka non-solar adopters.

Now now, don't go raining on his misinformation parade. I do pay for the transmission lines, with my minimum charge fee. I also power my neighbors AC, lights, etc when I'm not using everything I generate. The utility pays me a fraction of its value when I do that, but at night I have to pay them full price. As far as tax subsidies are concerned a true WTF is why some people get so bent when one is offered to the common man. There are literally billions if not trillions of dollars in subsidies given to corporations with big lobbying dollars every year. I think many subsidies should be eliminated, for example every single one given to fossil fuel. What do you think the price of gas would be without them? Subsidies given to green power simply level the playing field. What do you think the chances are of Exxon agreeing to give up their subsidies? Yeah, negative infinity on that one. So, until fossil fuel gives up its money, green energy needs its own.

Not so much of a spoiler as it is a rehash of history.
