Last time I had metal imbedded in bearings I had wiped a lobe on my cam shaft

That's definitely not a good sign to see that much metal in the pan , something in that engine isn't happy !!

Noting the mains and rod bearings show unusual wear so quickly I would say the crankshaft wasn't machined/ polished properly . Was the crank mic'd then used plasti gauge so to confirm bearing clearance??

How are the piston skirts or the rings ?? , also any unusual scuffing in the cyl bores??

Did you run break in oil on first start up and changed the oil after initial break in ???

Shouldn't see that on a modern Hydraulic roller cam , they're made from billet steel not like the flat tappet cams that are made from cast iron which is softer

Is this the same engine that was having low oil pressure problems a couple weeks back?

All my experience comes from bbcrysler engines and as long as the pump was good. Anything oil pressure related was valve train related.

No unusual scuffing in the cylinder bores.
Homegrown crank polishing. The crankshaft mains were mic'd as well as the journals. I thought that the bearings were a bit tight when I installed them. The crankshaft turned OK but wasn't turning freely. I also checked for proper bearing clearance using plastigage after polished the crankshaft. A small bit of scoring on the front main.

The oil pressure gauge read ~50psi at startup and ~2 psi when the engine went to operating temperature.

Any way something isn't right and I will find whatever mistake that I made and when I do it will get rebuilt the right way.

Edited to add: I ran the engine with the oil pump not primed. This caused a no oil pressure wen the engine was running. I thought that I caught it in time as I went back into the oil pump filled it with grease and reassembled, oil pressure returned. With the engine running with no oil pressure the crankshaft journal bearings got the damage. Crankshaft journals are fine.

There is no amount of ketchup or mustard that would make that look or taste good.

Look at all of those shavings on the oil pick up screen... something that rotates did a self-clearancing routine. I'd look at the cam lobes again and measure them with a mic. It could even be the gears in the oil pump itself. The whole engine needs to be torn down and hot tanked & pressure washed again to get ALL of that crud out of the oil galleries.
