Welcome back. I never could see myself going to a third but I understand peoples reasoning behind it. The new ones do drive so nice. Cant beat the simplicity though. Awesome find, super clean!

Man, I have been on the fence about moving to a 3rd but love the 1st gen.

I may put a feeler thread to figure out how much I could sell it for late this week but that would be a tough decision.

    Nice find!

The Avalon’s been the best daily I could ask for (and the only car I’ve ever spent full price on)

So what did ya pay for that little gem? My old 4x4 86 was a bit tougher/tighter than my 05 which was a lot more comfortable. Wife hated the ride in the 86 but that's what made it a real truck. Hindsight...wished I'd kept it.

Nice. My 1st gen needs an engine rebilled at around 300K miles and I needed a 4x4 that could fit the family (single cab 1st gen). The added crash protection is the only real advantage of a 3rd gen for my use (and the fact that I could get one).

Anyway, congrats. I'm jealous. Though this thread is confirming my decision to keep my 1st gen and eventually fix it (clean frame and body).

I thought about selling my 2002 DC 4x4 rear locker with 155k miles but like you said it would be hard to replace it. All the ones on market place and craigslist have 250-300k plus miles or they are a prerunner.

This car lot in VA always keeps a few first gens in stock.
