What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Twins! I’ve been considering between KO2s and Duratracs but leaning towards Duratracs since they are offered as a C Load tire.

 

Duratrac is all around a MUCH better tire.

Started tacking up a True North Fabrications bumper on the 95. Fits better than I actually thought it would on this gen.

 

I guess I didn't do it to my Tacoma but I did buy another roof tent for it.

 

I'm currently going with the blue tooth steering. It's so easy to turn the wheel..

Nah haha, I could buy another Tacoma to stack on mine for that price haha. I just got a fresh one of what I had. Has all the nice updates, the new rain fly design and the roof sections that can open. And a nice thicker mattress and condensation thingy. Guy used it three times and put it in storage it's like new but $500 cheaper

I've got rotors and pads (with shim kit) coming from McGeorge Toyota and plan to pick up the calipers from Napa.

Any other nick nacks or hardware I might need for the install? Maybe a snorkel or a supercharger?

 

Aligned it, (well actually it was all good) and drove it to the farm. Going to start getting materials ready for a flat bed. Drives perfectly fine at 60mph. Got a dash rattle though

When you're at Napa, pick up some vacuum caps to put over the ends of the brake lines (at the frame bracket) so you don't have fluid leaking all over the place. That's the messiest part. Otherwise, it's super straight forward to do the install. I linked some in the write-up as well if you want to get a bunch for projects longer term, but they are only a few bucks if you pick up a small assortment locally. Have fun, and if you run into issues, I'm happy to answer questions.

A cheaper simpler trick is to crack a bleeder with a hose on it and push your brake pedal to the ground and hold with an object and the seat. When the brake pedal is fully depressed the lines are closed off from the reservoir and won't leak. As evidence, mine has been held down for 6 months and hasn't leaked a drop

 

While not 100% necessary, a flare nut wrench set is a great addition to any brake job. Some people use bleeder systems, but I use the old school tubing method. Pretty much everything you see below is nice to have if you don't already (brake clean, rags, vacuum caps etc).

 

Driving home last night couldn't get a good picture but it turned 330,000 miles

 

That’s impressive. I have pictures from March 1, 2021 when I hit 93K and 94K on Jan 3. That means I drive about 100 miles/month. At that rate, I should match your 330K sometime in mid August, 2041.
