I have had a Poulan 2150 for 20 years. Never ran well even new. I learned about ethanol gas and and fuel lines and had fits with it. I did a China Amazon tune up on it with new lines, filter, plug, primer bulb. Pulled the limiter caps off and set the H/L on it.

It ran pretty good after. I haven't used it in awhile and had a tree on the fence on the 15th. It had non-ethanol gas in it I mixed in February. I pumped the primer 10x and it fired with one pull, idled and ran like a banshee. I cut up 2 downed trees with it while I had it out.

I think I may be the only person on Earth who's started a Wal-Mart Poulan with one pull with 10mth old gas in it. :D

Only person with a Goldilocks Poulan. I had one in the 1980's. It was horrible, yet I cleared a building site and cut a couple of years wood with it. No counter vibration system, I would have to peel my hands off the left hand handle after extended use. Dumped that for a Pioneer P45...a monster suitable for someone in their 20's.

My first Husqvarna lasted 16 years until the counter vibe mounts rotted away. The second one is about 11 years old and still my go to saw. I was gifted another Husky and resurrected a Stihl 028, another beast. Too many saws, not enough to cut.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
A little green Poulan was my first saw -- it was all I could afford at that time. Then on to a bigger Homelite (junk, but I kept it running), then on to the Stihl(s)

BTW the little Poulan is still running -my son has it as his backup. the thing is probably 35-40 years old

About to make a rash decision to buy the m18 Fuel Chainsaw...

The Stihls are up for sale on Criagslist. I guess I should also list them here too.

    MS290 w/ 20" bar - $300
    image2.jpg
    MS192tc w/ 12" bar - $275

Location - Flori-bama local pickup only.

I would keep both of those saws if they were running well, personally.

I mostly agree, however I have kept them and not used them for the last 5 years.
They run great, I have literally no mature trees on my property, and my closest two relatives have no mature trees either. It is nice to have a chainsaw, but an electric chainsaw is a better fit for me and where I live for the next 5-10 years.

Then I would try selling them for a premium. Especially the 290. They’re an endangered species.

i sold my tree crushed and restored 290 a few months ago for $250. ran like top. the 192tc should go for a good price, those T handles are hard to come by.

I found a used MS291 55cc Stihl with a 20" bar on FB marketplace today and grabbed it for $150.

It runs great and I laid it on an 18" thick part of a fallen oak down in my field and it pretty much fell thru it. I hope this is going to be a great saw for my needs. That oak is probably 24" down at the base and its days are numbered.

I dived on that ad when I saw it. I knew it wouldn't last long at that price and I didn't try to chisel him down.

Good call. Usually one of my favorite parts of buying something off craigslist or fb marketplace is the haggling over the price but every now and again when I know its a solid deal I am happy to just shut up and pay full asking price.

I don't mess with deals that aren't a good price anyways but when I see one like this I know it is a mad dash to see who gets it first. My reply was "If that saw starts and runs I'll give you $150 for it. When can I pick it up?"

My friend says “let’s hurry up and get there so we don’t get in a crash along the way!”

It does well on smaller stuff. Bigger stuff is outside its power level. I need to check my chain however it did cut a hollow log easily before I made that video.
