Awesome! Yeah it’s cool seeing guys push ifs limits because everyone does sas swaps. As I am still fairly stock trying to see what direction I want to go. I am probably going to buy one of Trevor’s tundra racks if I can get my hands on one. Seems like a lot of guys recommend jd fabs stuff. I’ll probably just go that route with there 2.25 lt kit. I think 37’s would be the biggest I’d want to go as I daily mine to work and have to travel quite a bit. I’m new to Tacoma world but it’s amazing seeing all these builds everyone’s doing. People’s drive and knowledge is really incredible. Makes it almost hard to pay attention at work. I just want to read threads. Haha

It is a fun addiction haha. It's awesome how many new products there are from when I first bought my lt kit.

    Trip update.

Went to harlan last weekend with @slander and mark for a 2 day ride. Friday we ran lower rock garden, fish fossil, lower damnation, and cruised out to white tail crawl on some mild trails. Also got to watch a few buggies make it up little jagger.
Friday also was a somewhat good day for wrenching. @slander drive shaft bolts decided they didn't like his truck anymore and backed out. Mark twisted his steering box shaft on a rock and I had to replace a cv axle. Saturday we woke up and met up with a crew to watch them go run lions den and helped them fix when they broke. After that we decided to go run white tail crawl. I got denied and @slander decided his frame needed a good beating on that trail. A quick 20 minute recovery and we realized the frame was bent. Decided to go up to the look out then back to camp to fix his frame (successfully I might add). Here are the photos that we got from the trip.

The last pic on the trailer is the straightest I’ve ever seen the body of @slander ’s first Gen.

Ha! I was just catching up on the trip report and was thinking the same thing after seeing your pictures. I don't think I've ever seen dust at Black Mountain.

I’ve enjoyed reading all of this. If you were to trailer your truck and it not see any street driving would the full hydro be your first pick? What would you do differently if it was strictly a trailer queen?

Thanks man, its been a fun adventure for sure. I'd stay with hydro if it was a trailer queen. And honestly if it was a trailer queen I'd put stickies on it and that would be the only change. Sorry for the late reply by the way.

No worries at all. Thanks for the response. I just got a tow rig so I’m gathering info on how silly to get with the taco haha

It can get crazy. Are you thinking keeping it factory width ifs, long travel ifs, or solid axle?

I’ve got a JD fab +2.25 kit and a Archive set up in the rear with 12” shocks. Would like to redo the rear, but will likely do 37’s, tube bed and attack the factory steering first. May SAS in the future if I can keep it low and gain considerable more travel, but for now I’m pulling 13” out of the front and feel pretty solid with the 934 cvs. Plus it’s kind of cool to build something different than the typical truggy or heep.

I wanted to push the ifs as hard as I could. I'm glad more people are taking off with it and coming up with great solutions to problems. Jd fab has had some amazing progress for our trucks. Wish he started doing it in 2015 because I'd have his stuff on my truck.

Do you have any plans to do an exocage? I’ve been debating doing it, but being a double cab I’m not sure of a way to keep the rear doors functional and have a cage that won’t collapse in a roll over. That’s a big open area with no support. Tried to fit a tube in between the doors but they won’t open. Maybe a new hinge could be made to pivot back then out, following an arc around the tube…might not be worth the effort to cage it.

Just drop the B pillar bar down through the roof and tie into a harness bar.
