Just a heads up to those of you with icon delta joints upper control arms. I have had mine about a year and a half now. I had the driver side blow out and the ride side upper control arm itself is rusted out.

Icon stated a 5 year warranty at purchase and also my offroad shop I purchased from.

Well they will not warranty the delta joint or the rusted UCA because I am using bilstein shocks. Despite being told that it was a no questions asked 5 year warranty regardless of me having bilstein shocks.

figured I would pass along the info as it really sucks how they didn’t last very long despite me greasing them every 5,000 miles and I wash my truck regularly.

I ended up just getting total chaos upper control arms to match the lowers I ordered.

How is that possibly a factor unless you're somehow beyond a normal ride height? Absolutely ridiculous - what if you had stock coilovers vs. Bilsteins at stock ride height?

Yeah i totally agree and what sucks is my bilstein 8112’s are actually ride height limited to about 1/2” shorter than icons. So along that train of thought mine would be less wear and tear versus an icon.

Go with Bilstein UCA’s which are chromoly then problem solved.

I installed the Bilstein 8112s and 8100s a few months ago, and also paired them with Icon's Delta Joint UCA, and I have a handful of things I'm really disappointed with. They did improve handling quite a bit, but here are 3 things about them I am very dissatisfied with, and at least 2 of them are items I think are total BS:

    (1) They don't come with the two zerk fittings for the bushings actually installed, which wouldn't have been a huge deal if they didn't get the powder coating all in the threads for the zerk fitting. To install the zerks, I had to go buy a tap and die set the day I installed them. I was able to get the powder coating out and install them, but it was a pain. Not a very hard thing to just do at the factory when they make them, especially considering the cost of these UCAs.

    (2) The UCAs did not come with covers for the grease fitting over the joint, they sell that separate for $60 (two stupid aluminum caps). You'd think they'd give you these at the price they charge. I drove them for 3 months without the caps and the steel plate that the grease fitting sits on is already corroded, so I bought the stupid caps for $60. They get held in by 3M adhesive gaskets, and they only give you 2 sets of them. You have to remove them every time you grease the joint, so I'll need at least 2 sets per year.

    (3) They are horribly loud. I knew switching to poly bushings would be louder, but my buddy put the Dirt Kings around the same time, and his make a little bit of noise, but not even close to the noise my Icon's make.

Overall, disappointed! Should have gone another route here.

Which problem does the chromoly fix? Serious question. I know next to nothing about uca's. However, I know that chromoly will rust, just not as quickly as regular steel. Only metals I know that are highly rust resistant are AL, Ti, and certain SS (T304/316). I'm sure there are others that are as well.

Dirt King sells the cap separately, unless they sell certain models with and some you have to buy separate. But mine they weren't included.

Dirt King did include the zerk fittings and I had no powdercoat in the threads.

    Dirt King is also Chromoly.

Actually just found that out last night when talking to my buddy, and was planning on coming on here to edit my post to clear that up. He indeed had to purchase the caps separately for his dirt kings. Still perplexes me why they don't just add that price in so they provide the caps to everybody. IMO they really should be covering those grease fittings.

His dirt kings also came with the zerks not installed, and like yours, his did not have powder coating all over the threads like my Icons did. I will add, I had heard from a few folks online that got the same Icon Delta Joint UCAs that did NOT have powder coating on the threads for the bushing zerks, so it appears to be sort of a toss up whether that happens. Either way, I think Icon should be ensuring that either doesn't happen in the powder coating process, or, if it does, they should at least get it out before sending the UCAs out for sale. People shouldn't have to go out and buy a tap and die kit just to get these UCAs installed correctly.

I agree completely. Shipping on my DK's were delayed a long while because they were waiting on caps to be done so they could ship together, which is fine with me because I wouldn't have installed without the caps anyway. Haha

I understand, that would definitely be frustrating when trying to get something installed. Especially if you're like me and it's my only vehicle.
