ahhh the demo disks! I had the xbox magazine subscription and those disks were a godsend for me. I don't know how many times I played through the halo and splinter cell ones among the others.

I used to be all about it rally but don't follow it or anything. The sound of the cars often gives me goosebumps and I think that's part of what makes me want a Subaru haha. I think part of what keeps me in offroading is that its a little more accessible than owning a rally car :)

what kind of RC stuff did you have?

    Fuuuuck yeah

Going to be convenient as hell.

Didn't even know they existed until you mentioned it. Then I started having flashbacks of my wrenching days in the past where these could've saved me a ton of time, not to mention making up new curse words in languages I never knew I knew

looking back on a lot of projects with the knowledge of specialty tools is funny

"man maybe that wouldn't have taken 10 hours. 3 would have been plenty. I'd have spent $30 on the tool if I had any concept that it existed"

    lmao

A lot of us here work on our own rigs, so it's easy to say that we all agree that the right tool makes all the difference.

    Splinter Cell...holy shit.

That just further scratched the itch we all had after having played Metal Gear. Trying to be all stealthy and shit, assassinating as we went.

I'm the same way about WRC; unfamiliar with names of drivers or specific events. But the cars, oh man those cars

I had several RC cars even up to 2 years ago that I got rid of. My favorite chassis being from X-Ray. I had 2wd and 4wd variants and ran mainly Team Powers motors for all my rigs.

The only downfall with X-Ray is they're a money-no-object type of RC car so if you break an A-arm, you better get ready to spend another $20 bucks on them. Even more if you went graphite. Titanium turnbuckles? Yes please. Carbon fiber bracing? Yes please.

Dialing in the RC car after you put your best parts in was another challenge in itself as you change your steering rates, exponential throttle curves, drag brake, everything.

It's an expensive and time consuming hobby. Now I'm just down to 1 car, a Traxxas running dual lipo's -

    Resized_Resized_20200812_144757.jpg

Not the fastest, or the most nimble, but so far it's the most fun basher I've ever owned. And still gets up to +65mph which is plenty fast for a 1/8 scale truck.

You ever get into RC at all?

I've got a Losi 8ight sitting on the shelf thats been converted to electric. Its got some giant hobbyking motor in it and has serious traction issues  I need to charge it up and go have some stupid fun.

Theres also a RC racetrack near my house...I should check that out, never got into it that deep before.

Oh shit, I completely forgot about my TA B6.

TA perfected that buggy chassis so long ago, that the only things changed are the composition of specific parts.

I literally just went to an old thread where I had listed some RC's for sale, one of them being my B6 -

And the X-Ray XB4 that went with it -

If you look up PLT-99400 you'll find a couple online vendors selling em. I bought mine from a parts supplier we buy automotive belts and bearings from, he charged me 80 bucks but I got them hand delivered.

He told me ATD tools also makes stuff for Carlisle or Leslie tools found in NAPA catalogs
