Ford lightning build and price just went live. Base trims all come with a 230-mile range battery.

Want the 300 mile battery instead of the 230 mile battery? You need to buy at least an XLT, which is $53,000 MSRP, then add a package that costs $19,500. $75k.

At 12,000 miles per year at $4/gallon of gas, it would take at least 8 years to recover that cost. At which point the batteries are going to shite. That's a shame. I heard it was a $10k upcharge for extended battery, which was already bonkers, but requiring you to not only purchase a trim level thats $13000 more expensive, then another $9500 trim level that is required, is absolutely insane.

Damn. My creaky old daily van will go over 300 miles on a tank, guess I'll keep it another year until the prices go down... ;);)

Not financially feasible yet. They have to bring that price down. Your average Joe can't no way no how afford that.

That would be my solution for my rather long and wide driveway, but as you drive on it and it packs down, followed by some sun, it tends to get icy. My grandson has to walk the driveway to and from for the school bus and I do it every day to get the mail and weekly for the garbage, so I am reluctant to let it sit and blow through it in my truck.

My driveway is on the North side of the house and gets very little sun, if I don't clear it the snow just stays.
At my elevation when down in town gets 4" we get 12"...
To complete the trifecta of inconvenience, the driveway is not only on a hill but a slope to one side so you can slide diagonally across and down which happens to be the opposite direction to the road out.

I have lived here almost 30 years, if I every buy another place you can bet the driveway will be flat.

Mine is flat, fortunately, but sits on the east side where the morning and early afternoon sun hits it. The snow will pack, especially if it is just a few inches.

Maybe. I got locked out of my 401K till the 29th due to switching plans so couldn't get my closing money. I think I might be able to barely squeak out enough to pay for it all o_O

You have a very valid point. Nobody here has to go anywhere so I'm good. I'm just super lazy and hate snow with a passion

Just checked my drive. It's a bit over 50 feet long and a little more than 20 feet wide for most of it. It's getting to be too much to do in one attempt, especially when it is a large, heavy, wet snow. I will have to take a break or two - if we get this kind of snow.

    Thanks Rusty :fistbump:

It's one of those things. I knew it all couldn't go that damn smooth, even the mortgage process has been seamless. I was waiting for "the fuckening" and sure enough there it was...

You peaked my interest, I had to go out and access the enemy that has been trying to kill me for all these years.
40 feet wide and 75 feet long.

Unfortunately this is too wide for the snowblower to clear in one throw.
There is generally a very gentle breeze blowing diagonally across the driveway, so light you hardly notice it -- until you get a snowblower and launch 25 pounds per second of snow in the air and the now jet force gentle breeze pummels you with 25 pounds per second of ice crystals.

    Yeah, I hate snow...

It is still early in the month, talk to the lender, they want your business and might be able to push it back a week for you or work a short term loan.
Keep the faith, things work out.

That's a lot of driveway. Shoveling that would be a back breaker.
