Okay look, that excuse doesn’t work. I’ve spent my whole life in rural Alabama. I’ve never hit a deer (knock on wood). My dad only hit one once that I know of, and that was at 10mph on a field road. It technically hit him, in the rear panel of the bed. Better headlights aren’t gonna do you any good if you already can’t see them with 3rd gen stock headlights. You need to slow down, pay attention, or both.

 

Yeah we happen to have deer in Oregon too. Brighter headlights won't change that.

 

I guess some guys are just wired to need their stuff to be unique, different, bigger, bolder, shinier, taller, stronger, louder, more durable, sexier, faster, brighter etc. Not to mention we live in a "look at me" world. God I both love and hate the internet and social media!

To see how sad American drivers are , just drive a few miles in a place with organized road laws like Germany. No shit box cars broken down on the side of the road, no grandma drivers in the left lane, no kids rolling around with leaf blower exhaust cars or deathtraps ready for "Tokyo drift "... and most importantly , no illiterate peasants like us with LED/HID light conversions

 

One reason I upgraded my lights was taking care of a terminally ill parent, having to drive home in the wee hours through a poorly lit rural area.

BUT what I did was bought a light bar and PIAA lights..which run on a separate switch. I left my factory headlights alone.

 

And I don't believe German cars come with cup-holders, since in Germany, you should be driving, not sipping on a beverage while doing 205 km/h on the Autobahn...

Lol unless your headlights can see through solid objects like trees and brush and weeds and over hills and in ditches, brighter headlights do not help. I used to live in the deer strike capital of the US. When deer bolt they are not two hundred yards ahead of you standing still in the road. They suddenly appear 30 feet in front of you like magic, and if you live in east TN you know that to be fact.
Now, could they help you see the deer standing by the road eating grass from a further distance? I doubt it. Deer blend in so well you can't see them until you are on them.
Lastly, there are as many deer strikes in daylight as in the dark! Right after sunrise and right before sunset and those are the times your headlights suck no matter what you have.

 

My headlights are brighter than stock (bulbs and harness, factory housings). My fog lights have been replaced with DD SS3 fogs. 2012 Tacoma. I feel I can see better/more while maintaining the factory cut offs. When I said deer, that was the first thing that came to mind. I deer hunt, so I seem to be able to see deer a lot quicker than others. I’m not bragging when I say that, just saying I’m used to looking for deer. And yes, my lighting choices have helped me see deer on the sides of the road/edge of the woods better compared to stock lighting.
