Thick used motor oil, people used to use old diesel oil 15W-40 and also a concoction of chain saw bar lube and wax.

Happy New Year everyone. A late for this but…

So I’ve had this Roll up tonneau cover I got a few months ago. Before my surgery. I’m able to physically install it , but have never done one. It has:

    2 side rails
Both the fore and aft pieces and
The bowed ribs pieces for the middle and all of the clamps/ hardware for it. Is there any videos or install instructions online I can get to do this?

    Thanks

This makes sense. Why waste all of your effort and money? Leave it be and let it do it’s thing. Because you could probably go through this all winter.

I'd just youtube the name of the cover first. That'd be helpful to the rest of us to try to help ya too.

The bakflip cover I got, the videos on youtube actually made sense. Their written instructions were like for an f150 and were for items that werent even included

I've heard of 15w-40, bar lube, and ATF cut with acetone are the old farmers favorites lol

ATF is a detergent and acetone would make it easier to come off I would think. That one is new to me. Not saying it doesn't work but I'm intrigued.

Also - use a wax like fluid film or wool wax. It's lanolin and will do the trick AND won't be the Exxon Valdez in your driveway when it rains and drips oil everywhere.

Keep in mind people were doing this a while ago, likely to vehicles that already leaked like a sieve.

Should we also remember that this is handed down from our grandparents because that was the best they had and the environment that problems all this lead us into?

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
I think the best thing about this weather is that when it's cold like this that I can put the cover back on the grill as soon as I finish my dinner. Lol

I've just heard about it, never tried it personally. I've always used lanolin based products on my trucks

Think I’m gonna assemble my new Weber grill tomorrow. Warm up my garage with the kerosene heater and get it done . Sick of looking at that box

Same here. But even if it does, oh well. Not like I'd take a spoonfull of it like ice cream but it's fine.

Same but the old oil spray thing is just an old school method and it works but not great for the fishies.

Phone wasn't charging. Cleaned about 17 lbs of lint and dust out of the charging port at work using a plastic dental pick under a microscope. Looked nasty. Looks clean now. Charges great.

I don't love the whole wireless revolution all the time but I do get it time to time. Seal up the case and not have a source for contamination. Wouldn't surprise me if we see completely sealed up phones in the not too distant future.

I was cleaning the charger on an iphone 7, and still have an old SE at home too

I don't go with the new times. I hate the face ID - besides, work pays for it so :notsure: I'll take it. It does all I want a phone to do, does phone things, text things, plays music and has the tappy wallet thing. Let 'er rip!

Storage is meh. One thing I liked about my old phones was the SD card. I don't have the option on the iphone, I used to be able to tack in an extra 250gigs for music, apps, etc as needed. Now I'm stuck with what I got. Hasn't been an issue but right now my google photos is full so, they're not backing up and might clog up my phone soon. I have to go through a bunch.

WTF am I supposed to be doing right now....Oh right, work, okay.

My driveway and spot at work are covered. Hot summer days it leaks out of my frame like crazy. I also put an inordinate amount of material on the frame.

Though that is a good point, I got mine done in October so I've yet to firsthand see the warm weather interact with it
