Three days of driving in the snow and on my last site check of the weekend, a grader comes up the hill as I am driving back to my trailer. But, I won't complain too much, the 1-2.5 feet of snow on the road(depending on which fsr you come in on) kept it a quiet weekend with only a few people out and about.

Anyone have a recommendation for a decent paint/body shop, or even shade tree who does paint?

There was an acid leak in the engine bay that ate up some stuff pretty bad and I don't have a garage so doing the work myself isn't an option until after winter.

This is a basically brand new truck so I'd like to get it fixed (right) sooner rather than later.

Looking for a WA individual or shop recommendations for a consistent water leak in my 2020.

It's coming down in the passenger foot well, where the passenger would have their right foot, down along the A-pillar presumably. I don't believe it's the fresh air intake as the cabin air filter is consistently dry. It occurs during every rain. Michaels Toyota was no help; after paying an egregious diagnostic fee I was told "try resealing the roof rack." The rack is a Prinsu Cab Rack that has been on the truck for about 19 months. The leak started in November after parking the truck directly under a shedding tree for 2 weeks. I assume it's either a clogged drain hole under the windshield cowl or a bad seal on the Prinsu. The tree makes me think its a clogged drain hole but I did have one day in September where I had a leak at the passenger B pillar during a torrential downpour; that makes me think its the rack seal.

So looking for some professional help to address this once and for all. Happy to pay fair rates and travel if needed. Located in Issaquah.

My father in law just had this happen on his 3rd gen. It ended up being something with the passenger door weather stripping. He explained it a little over the holidays, but I didn’t quite catch all of the solution. He took it to a portland area shop (which doesn’t help you) but the shop said they had seen this quite a few times now. Maybe it’s common enough that other shops will have a solution.

I think you may be right. I just spent a while pouring water in discrete places. Sunroof drains fine, couldn't get the leak to appear while pouring water at the roof rack mounts. But this was all done with the passenger door open. I then closed the door, poured water over the weather stripping and the leak appeared.

Any chance you could get more details from your FIL? Or maybe just the Portland shop he went to? I'm in Portland enough that I would love to give that shop a call.

    Thanks!

Honestly i had this exact problem (water coming down the passenger A Frame and pooling below the floor mats, and it was due to the Prinsu cab rack not being properly sealed correctly. I'm surprised though that MIchaels was no help, i had gotten mine installed there years ago and took it in to them and they diagnosed and repaired for me.

I posted this in the other thread but it looks like it pretty dead. Lots of talk on the kd max tune but not so much on the OTT. Does anyone here run the OTT tune?

I got the OTT tune about 3 weeks ago and here are my thoughts. Throttle response is night and day better. MPG is down about 1.5 mpg but Im guessing that is because of colder weather. The trucks doesnt go into 6th gear unless im doing like 75 on a flat road with a tail wind. It seems that it holds onto the gears just a tad longer than it should.

Does this sound right? My tuner here is great and offered to do it again or install another one if I wanted.

If your tuner has unlocked files that they can manipulate they should be able to correct for any changes to suit your needs. If they are just flashing a locked tune from someone else then you are at the mercy of the tuner on the other end. I haven't driven on any of the N/A tunes but the amount we have tweaked and changed on the Magnuson replacement tune from Yotawerx has been pretty amazing.

He went to this shop. https://libertywaterseal.com/
It’s a one guy operation so can take a couple days to return calls sometimes.
Sounds like the guy added extra weather stripping, or beefed up the existing weather stripping. I haven’t seen the work to say exactly what was done. I hope that helps!

Do you have a sliding rear window? Grab yourself a fan and put it against the window, seal around it so it positively pressures the cab. Grab a bunch of soapy water and spray down every possible spot like the roof rack, window seals, door seals, ETC… I’d also spray down the engine bay side of the firewall where you can.

I’ve done had to do this on school busses a lot. Roof emergency exits are a constant source of leaks

Getting 5.29 in after the 3 year warranty expires (or earlier?) in the coming November timeframe. Looking at Paden in Portland; after browsing the 5.29 thread, are there any specific details we need to bring to them that addresses nuances (bearing sleeve? Spacer?) or will they know how to manage this?

Also, will they have the gearing in stock or are we expected to get the parts? Clearly, I’ll call, but currently on a trip and get some info in advance. Thanks!

I've called them a few months ago and they were having trouble getting parts, and I would suggest asking them if they use the master install kits or mini kits. Since I'm in the Seattle area and reading thru some install issues, I chose not to risk it by using Padens.

I also posted on the PNW tacoma facebook page an a bunch of people suggested pdx wraps. Another person DM'd me saying he has been doing wraps for 15, sent me a bunch of photos of his work. He said that he works as a subcontractor for a bunch of wrap companies in the area. Seems super nice an knowledgeable but no real info about him online. So against my better judgement I venmoed him a deposit and have $1500 worth of wrap material coming this week. Follow along for more questionable life choices from me.
