I had a dryer drum erupt black sand like 15ft in the air once while using it as a fire put. It scared the shit out of me. Luckily the guy most of the hot sand landed on had a blanket covering his body. I had a small burn on top of my foot from standing there with flip flops.

    @treyus30

So, apparently our 3rd machine at work has a water-cooled MIG gun and it's set up for aluminum welding.

I'll have to mess with it tomorrow :anonymous:

Unless you order 100s of them, they will be prohibitively expensive for a machine shop to do. There are alot of reasons why, but I'll avoid sharing them for brevity sake. Personally I would go with a lost wax/foam casting method as it'll be alot cheaper and more easy to DIY compared to buying a CNC+tooling+fixtures

However I'm ALL FOR promoting CNC work at home and as soon as I move and own my own house I'm buying this www.pocketnc.com

I can't say enough good things about this setup for the serious at home, serious enthusiasts

Keep at it! Just got back from my hardware store and they're at $6.48 a pop. I decided to go with 3x2s @$3.98 since my application won't be structural - just an indent to an existing wall.

that speed is still insane!!! Traxxas seems to still be killing it in the game. Are there any tracks near you?

Ya the parts can definitely nickel and dime you along the way, especially if you bash and break them quite a bit.

I started with a first or 2nd gen stampede which I think is still in my storage unit somewhere. I ended up later getting a HPI Savage super cheap that had been dunked in a lake. I wasted a lot of time and money rebuilding it to running condition before it sold it... Years later I picked up a nitro Traxxas Revo from a buddy and ran a few times before getting tired of all the tuning lol

Man, I always loved the sound of nitro RCs.

Whenever you heard that distinct sound, you knew a crowd slowly formed to watch the owner run his RC at over +50mph. You had the most popular models; those really made RC stand out and were the very cars that hooked people into the hobby.

When I was in Salinas, I used to go to the indoor track in San Jose and race my buggies.

I'm sure there are some around me, but they typically have size/battery restrictions which my Traxxas won't adhere to.

If you want to get back into it,
with the intent to simply "bash", get a Traxxas electric RC.

I don't know anyone running them TBH, I don't see why they'd be a problem its not a drastic reduction and the price is pretty reasonable for quality gears. I was more interested in the high range under drive gearset, makes 35s comfortable on stock axle gears and 37s doable.

The steel ones aren't steel on the hinge-handle connection, I hear, which is where the issue lies.

Oops, missed it before. That thing would be legit. You have it?

Oh and my first thought was DIY casting, but I didn't think I'd be able to get the tolerances, and I think it would be a wasted or at least a split-mold cast
